i had just recently bought my itr from a friend, he didnt really know how to drive and when i got it it had a slight churp/grind going into 3rd, i know the best thing to do would have been to get it fixed right a way, but like a lot of other people tuning on a budget aaannddd living in cali isnt cheap, well now theres no churp just grind after 5000rpm, i admit i made the problem worse by goin on with the problem, but you know how it is when you cant even go to the store for milk in an itr without someone trying to race you, ne who i took it to a shop close by, the dude suggested to throw a b16 tranny in my car and keep the diffs so it stays lsd, im looking for some knowledgeable feedback and am wide open for all and ne suggestions. thanks

    by the way its a 2000 itr, i got an s80 w/lsd

well.. depending if its a JDM ITR tranny or a USDM tranny.. they are both the same gearing as a b16 tranny but with a LSD, but the JDM version is a 4.7 fd while the USDM ITR and all b16 trannys are 4.4 fd(final drive)

First, find a new shop who knows something about Hondas before you get anally raped.. The diff from an itr tranny won't work in a b16 tranny.

    b16/ls diff's will interchange. (part #160)
    itr/ctr/gsr will interchange. (part #180)

cheapest thing to do is to rebuild 3rd gear. get a new ring gear and synchro set. shouldn't be more than 250-300 bucks.

    whats going on????

ok , i just recently got my oil changed no more than maybe a month ago, so im cruizin along and i hit vtec and all the sudden my shit starts to bogg, i chill for a sec then try it again, same shit, well no more the ten seconds after that my oil light comes on , so i pull my ass over asap to a jiffy lube and have them check it out, listen to this.... i had 1/4 of 1 quart left in my entire moter...wtf... so i take it to a trusted mechanic , he tears it apart and says everything is beautiful, no leaks cracks, ventage, nothing , he tops me off and says the people that did the oil change must have shorted me, ok fine, this was maybe a week and half a go, well now im perioniod so i check my oil all the time, today i check it and its damn near empty again, theres no oil in my plugs nothing in the driveway..... if this sounds familiar to ne one please enlighten me ....thnx

If you beat on it a lot it will consume oil. Try driving like a grandma for a week and i bet you wont loose much at all.

No, thats a retarded amount of oil to go missing. That indicates something serious is wrong somewhere.

Is it smoking at all? Check the underside of the car (body) for oil build up as well. Look over the motor and see if you can see anywhere where grime is building up.

Also, just for giggles, check your coolant.. Make sure there is no oil in there.

check by your oil drain bolt and see if its saturated in oil.. the bolt may leak but not drip on the driveway..

Hes most likely losing oil when at high rpms due to worn rings. If he drives normally he wont lose nearly as much. Ive seen this happen on friends gsrs

Umm I Can Almost Guarantee Your Valve Seals Are Leaking Or Your Piston Rings Are Done For. How Many Miles Are On The Car? I Had That Problem Once And Had To Change My Piston Rings. While I Was At It I Just Overhauled The Whole Motor. You Might Want To Put In An Oil Pressure Gauge Just To Ease Your Worries After The Fix........
