Wheel Offset?

i have a few questions.

1) what make it have a deep dish - offset or +offset?

2) what offset would i need to have about a 2in lip?

3) im thinking of getting 15x7.0 with 205/50 or a 205/40 tire is that too wide with a deep dish or will it work fine ?

the wheels are going on a 92-95 civic.

the tire really has nothing to do with your offset so a 205 tire can fit on many different size wheels. 215/40 would be sick width but the depending on the offset might rub in the front. the offset has to do with the way the wheel shaps around the rotor and axle where it starts and ends

oh yeah the offset is the distance from centerline of wheel to the mounting surface
