I have a stock 1990 HF. I just got it a few months ago and it is getting bad MPG for a HF. So I did a full tune-up and found the timing way off. Moving the dizzy as far as posible I am still about an inch from lining up the timing marks. Yes I did short the little plug under the glove box. So I have been told that my timing belt is off a tooth or 2. Where can I find a step my step to fix this or excahnge timing belts. Bob PS: Anyone live in the Sun City, Ca area (riverside) and want to help?
Go buy a repair manual for $15 at a parts store for your car. It will have the timing belt replacement procedure along with how to set the timing with a light. It is really quite easy with the number 1 piston at TDC the cam should be at 12 o'clock.
