Which way is best to run downpipe?

This might sound trivial to some people, but I am trying to find out which direction is best to turn the turbo on the manifold. If you turn it with the turbine side towards the passenger side of the car, then the exhaust has less turns to make, but has to make a sudden turn right when it comes out of the turbo. On the other hand, with the turbine facing the driver's side, the exhaust doesn't have to make such a drastic turn coming out of the turbo but has to make one more turn. I would also seem to be a little better to have the compressor towards the driver's side to keep the hot air from the radiator away from it. Anyone have experience having it both directions and know which is better?

you want the downpipe to run under the oilpan like so:

i'd do it as close to this as you can.
