why is high compression like 10:1 so bad for boost when diesels use high compression ratios like 20:1 and still have a turbo on them with out problems?

so if i build a motor with a 10:1 compression and boost it with one good tune it would work perfectly fine ?

Its because a diesel engine doesnt have spark plugs to ignite the fuel. Its the compression alone that causes the fuel to combust. That much comp on a gasoline engine will cause detonation and eventually destroy it.
