I've had my stock del sol for a couple months now and planned on leaving it stock but last weekend I went to a car show and saw a black del sol there on widened steelies and have been obsessed since. I didn't see who was driving it so i couldnt ask questions but I'm wondering if anybody has experience in widened steelies and what i can fit on my del sol.

here's a link to a picture of what I'm kinda looking for, I plan on leaving my stance a half inch higher than in said picture.

What size steelies should I go with and how wide? I'm thinking 14's because I don't want to rub a lot and want it to sit lower, or at least look like its sitting lower, and how wide should I go..8"? plus, do they come certain offset or do you pick your offset, i was thinking with going with diamond racing. any feedback would be awesome, thanks.

The particular steelies that guy has looks to be Diamond Racing Wheels. You can pick all kinds of widths and offsets. Well not exactly offsets but the non metric American backspace. You can find conversion charts for what backspace equals what offset with a certain width rim. I couldn't tell you what size to go with as I'm not a hella flusher. I was thinking about rocking a set of those or bassets as my slick wheels next year but idk.

ok. to start. like said above diamond racing wheels. little cheaper brand at discount tire. << get what you pay for. but as for with i am currently running 15x8 with 195 50 15 tires. do not scrub unless hard turning at weird angle. but you will not be able to get inside fender like that. would half to be a 15x7 at max. or 14. i have pics on here somewhere of my car if you would like to c what it looks like with 15x8 lowered about 3 inches.

    function>fashion.

but that has never really mattered in the world of hondas. those wheels are likely to be heavy, that cars geometry is fucked, and the suspension probably rides like shit.

imho, if i was to get new wheels AND tires (because you'll need them) I would get something a little more functional. hell, rota gt3's would be better wheels and actually look better.

I had gsr swirlies on my eg hatch and that thing was slammed and it would rub when id pull into parking spots are sharp turns a little but nothing i complained about, never had to buy new tires too. i keep researching but i feel like i'd have to go with the whole trial and error, at least a friend of mine has a widened 13 or 14's on his mk 2 jetta maybe i'll convince him to let me put them on my car for a hot second and see where i stand there.

is there a typical offset that the diamond racing wheels come with? like within the 13-15" margin?

if i am correct for the 14 start at 14x7 and go to 14x10 and 15s go from 15x8 to 15x12. not sure of offset. if correct it has 0 offset. they do not have 13 to my knowledge.

I tried google all day basically and it just kept directing me to vw forums, which are very helpful since the widened steelie thing's big over on that side but it didn't answer the questions i brought here. i checked out their site after i posted here but i get nervous about offset just because i had these wheels a while ago and had to camber the shit out of them because the offset was high

also does anybody have a rough idea on wheel prices through them, before i call ahead. i know it varies but if you've ordered through them i'd like to hear about their price range. I'd only ever order anything up to 15" if that matters

You should look into the racing scene because that's where those rims were first made popular. They're available in sizes much wider than Rota GT3s, where some people need ~10" wide wheels to run 275 Hoosiers.

If anything, it's another instance of where something seen on the track has become "style".

if you want a certain look, get them

if you build a full race car, get them

if you want daily handling and performance, don't get them.

    not much else to say.
