this may sound like a dumb question but i have a friend who just inherited a 1985 prelude. and he wants to know if he can put a h22 in it. what would it take to do such a swap and is it worth it to put a different engine in there if applicable. is it possible without spending gobs money?

It is a possible swap if you really wanted too. But there will be a lot of wiring and fabrication required. Is it a recommended swap HELL NO. You friend would probably be better off selling it and getting a better base or just a 93-96 Prelude which comes with the h22a :)

    Agreed.

I'm sure someone has done it, and it has to be possible. I don't think it's a money-worthy project though.

    Gobs of money=

afaik there are no good swaps for that car that are fairly easy and cheap. dump it.
