I agree with the above. I spent $20k on my wedding, that much wedding *was not worth it*. In my opinion, the honeymoon was really the only worthwhile part. Even $15k would make a nice down payment on a house. A reasonable, affordable, starter home will give you just as many happy memories.

Cel put it nicely. If you have to finance it, other than maybe a house, it isn't worth it. You would essentially be starting your marriage off with a substantial amount of debt. I forget the exact amount, be we added up how much we were paying in just interest alone between all our debts, it was between $3k and $4k a year. (house, two cars, student loans, a small personal loan and cc's) She fought me tooth and nail, but we paid off almost all of our debt and it was by far the best financial decision I ever made.

You do not need a credit card, I travel frequently and I don't even have one.
