WinXP Q?

Ok, here's the senario.
I need to reinstall WinXP Pro on a laptop for this girl I know. She's at school. can't find the damn WinXp cd, good news is I have the WinXP Pro CD-Key it's on the bottom of the laptop.

Question is could I use a copied WinXP cd to do the install as I have a valid CD-Key ??

im even sure you could use that key to install SP1.

Yep it'll work.

Dosen't matter of the CD is copied as long as you have a valid CD key.

another XP question. my dad bought a new comp and it came with Windows XP Media Edition. There's no saying if it's either Pro or Home. which is it built on? the system cost like $200 more for the media version since it has a boat load of extra cool stuff. you can record tv and listen to the radio, etc. very cool.

i'm gonna guess Home, b/c its more geared toward home, where as my XP Pro was pretty stripped down, didnt even come with games on it..

but i'm not 100% sure.

xp pro comes with games. i have free-cell, internet hearts and all that jazz on mine.

media edition is pro with media shit... its really just extra software.

as for the differences,
there's not many that will effect anyone at home. its mostly network related.
