Yes but E is playing the system. The system does not own E. E would break out of the system if it didnt incentivize him to stay home and put his feet up. If the system put E to work, hed probably find something better to do.

I was trying to say E as much as possible.

E has a job now, but he was looking and interviewing for the better part of the last year or so.

times aren't as easy as those of you with a job may think they are.

Sure, he could have gone and flipped burgers, and made less than unemployment. If it wasn't available, i'm sure he would have. Most would.

unemplyment, welfare, social security, etc etc are all products of the socialst FDR's new deal.

i was out of work for a little over a year
was looking for and interviewing for jobs for most of that year
took the unemp because it was there
if it wasnt i would have made money in "other manors"... done it before... wouldnt hesitate to do so again if the need was to arise :shrug2:

I wasnt trying to give anyone a hard time. I apologize if my post was taken that way.

But as little as I know E, he just seems like the type of guy that would scrub the sewer and wouldn't say shit about it as long as he was able to eat at the end of the day. The topic here is people who aren't trying and/or don't want to work.

anyone on unemployment for longer than 6 months is receiving a free handout.

fuck yeah, put them to work.

depends on the situation really.

you can work and get unemployment in california. I was getting 896 biweekly when I wasnt working and they would just fill in what I didnt make when I was.

That's actually good.

Here, you have to chose. You can't even work 10 hours a week. You either collect or you don't. It's a shit rule. they should just factor those 10 hours out when you call in that week.

True. I lost my job in September of 09. I didn't even consider unemployment. I drove a limo and did other undesirable things. My father in law convinced me to apply for unemployment in April "10 so I did and I got my 26 weeks. It'ssomething you pay into your whole working life so why not.

Furthermore, I busted my ass looking for a job every day because I have pride and determination, something my parents taught me through example and force.

I'd be willing to guess the split between lazy and hard working unemployment recipients is about 50/50. In fact, it may even be more towards the hard working side. I imagine there a lot of people in the trades that work for cash and still receive unemployment.

Werd, werd, and werd

Its happening, and a big problem. With how long people can collect, they do not want to go back to work. I know of several people who are keeping the unemployment, getting cash job, and their old employers want them back. They are making more the illegal way so they won't get off the unemployment.

Why just the subways? Clean the streets, parks, and highways. No time to interview? Make it a 3-4 day work week. Drug tests for all recipients. If you want the money, you follow the rules. If you think the rules are wrong, socialist, or "fucked up", I hear BK is hiring.

The biggest problem in this country is people draining society. There are untapped, cheap work forces everywhere. Unemployment/welfare recipients, non-violent inmates, military, volunteers, etc. If you're getting paid to sit around, pick a broom. Don't want to sweep? Get yourself a real job.

Collective bargaining destroys what would often be cheaper labor pools by making shoveling dirt a $27/hr job. That is a major contributing factor.
