i have a b16 cam in my loundry room for like2 years and it looks brand new
 
I'd be pissed if I was going to buy those, and he never said anything about rust... I sold taco a set of skunk2 stage2's, and they had a little rust, but it was all pretty much surface only and came off with like 2000 grit steel wool and some penetrant lube. Maybe try and grab a fine steel wool, and some wd40 or other lube, and try cleaning them up a bit. It might be totally cosmetic, or it might be worse. you never know until you clean them up. But he should have had them cleaned and checked if he wanted to be a good seller. :thumbsdown: to him.
 
They might have been clean when they shipped, and tarnished in transit. If so, all you need to do is clean them up and put a light coat of oil on them to keep the rust away.

My friend Adam Barber bought the ITR transmission, paypalled klubhed1 and later on, was told tough luck about getting his money back. Klubhed1 blocked him out of this thread apperently.

Heres what adam has posted on other forums trying to get advice on his situation....

He was selling the tranny for a friend and so I contacted the friend over aol instant messenger. I decided I wasn't sure if I was going to be picking up the tranny or having it shipped. I sent him the money through paypal, 1133$ for the price picked up. About a week later I found that I needed to have the tranny shipped as my ride to chicago was canelled. We had previously decided the price extra for shipping would be another 100$. When I contacted the seller on AIM again to inform him that I would be sending additional funds to have the tranny shipped there was a problem. He says he found a crack in the casing and that I would have my money refunded. I waited 3 weeks for my refund (seems very reasonable to me) and contacted him several times throughout the process about where my money is. He claims that he spent the money and I would have it back shortly. I then contacted paypals resolution center and they have since decided in favor of me. However, he has taken all funds out of his account and thus they have no way of getting my money back to me."

dude...soap....penetrant oil and a brillo pad....or steel wool.....try it out before gettin ur cash back....maybe it will come off then u can still use em....
 
i took alot of wd40 and used an all surface scrub sponge and got a LITTLE off...as you can see by the first pic, i think its chipped...anyway, i'm documenting my entire attempt to salvage these cams, i have a certain amount of time through paypal to get a FULL REFUND from the seller/paypal. today is 4/15 so all the shops are closed. on monday morning i will take the cams to the best machine shop in town and have them decide....

as you can see, these cams have been like this for a while. rust does not grow this fast, it takes a little time to get this deep or high [dont know yet]....

I can see his point of view. Cams can rust FAST if you don't put lube on them. I don't know about eating into the lobe face that quickly, but they do rust FAST.
