i know theres a few current and past wrx owners here. the wife and i have been looking into a newer vehicle for us and ive always wanted a wrx. im looking in the 0-16k$ range would rather be more at the 12 to 14 mark

my questions are- is there any year or years i want to avoid? how many miles is to many with these? any other things i should look to avoid?

i might go look at this tomorrow '05 Subaru Impreza WRX - Below KBB

good deal, just make sure the trans feels good, wrx's are plagued with trans issues if you start beating on them.

Bump your price up a few Gs and you can have a really well done STI.

    Mine.

New turbo new tires whole car gone over from roof to tires. Lots of things done. Even dyno tuned.

Just need to make the trip out.

Picked it up on a trade, planned on flipping it but the car ended up being a piece. Put a lot of money and time into it to make it a awesome car again. At this point I plan on keeping it but if someone offers me enough money...

Car is perfectly modded for a daily driver. Cobb down pipe, Cobb exhaust, Cobb access port and tune, brand new VF48 turbo from the new sti the older turbos cracked the new ones less likely to crack. Intake, cuscu catch can, 760cc injectors, 255lb fuel pump, SSR wheels with brand new extreme contact dw tires. Nav system, hard wired radar detector, perfectly working AC.

I asked for a basic tune that would make for a fun backroads car. Puts down 300whp/340 wheel torque to all 4 wheels.

You can find them in the 15-16k range, however be prepared to drop a few Gs into them because people just don't take care of their chit. If it is a good well kept car, expect much more.

Not quite an STi encyclopedia. :) I considered buying a friend's 04 a while back, but the gas mileage really scared me away. It would be a good replacement for the S2000 to gain a back seat, but I already have my truck. :( I'd probably just go up to the wheels and look for the pattern diameter to determine 04 vs 05.

My ssr wheels say 5x100 like most wheels on subis. They stamp them the more common number and drill them for 114.3

Ah. I didn't know they were marked on the outer face- I'd just measure with my hands. :)

An Asian thing? If one lug to the other covers the span of your hand its 5x100, if its wider than your hand then its 5x114.3?

I see a lot of chicks running around in STI's around here, it's pretty hot.

My STI was a kid carrier, had a car seat in the back with the old owner.

Either way, hes not even local, so it would be hard to do anyways. For me I'd hate to have a WRX and not the STI, it's like dating the not as hot sister.

The lower maintenance, less expensive, almost as hot sister isn't always a bad thing.
