wtb-tranny 90dx hatchback

I need to replace my trans in my 90 dx hatchback it is a 4 speed but I would like to swap it out with a direct replacement 5 speed. Or if someone can give me some idea if i can repair mine it would'nt go into reverse one morning. If I repair it can I put taller 4th gearing in it to increase fuel mileage and lower rpm's?

Repairing that tranny without any real mechanical knowlege and a HONDA repair manual not the shitty haynes one is very difficult. I would just pick up a used tranny out of a LX or DX 5speed or of course a CRX Si. The DX 5 speed and the LX 5 speed are the same. Rember if you get a 88 tranny you need a 88 clutch. there are different number of splines on the input shaft.

if you just want a 5 sp with good gas milage get a hf tranny out of a crx.

yeah if it is just a d series i would swap it out with a five speed. you should be able to pick one up fairly cheap. i may have one in a few weeks so if you are still looking for one let me know.

So the dx and the crx tranny are the same are the axles the same? If so does anyone have a good 5 speed for sale?
