A quick word about hunting: Hunting with arrows sucks. You shoot an animal - and I don't care about compound bows and pulls and velocity or anything - You don't kill it. You have to keep on shooting it with arrows until it dies in misery and pain. To get over this, one usually finds a way to shut off their humanity. A proper round will kill an animal. I've hunted with both - The arrow only once. I HATED that.
I believe in game either caught in a trap or actually raised. Hunting leads to an empty stomach about 50% of the time.

I fixed that statement for you. Everything in Australia - for instance - Can kill you.

Beautiful countries - All. I love touring the earth as much as I can. There are people living in some of the most squalid conditions imaginable and yet they may still maintain more happiness than stock broker in a luxury highrise. But still - They are all ruled. I won't be ruled anymore.
What you said is true, but with proper prepping and knowledge, most places are still able to be lived off of as long as you exercise the right caution in what you're doing.
Here is a problem that I have.

Every week, about twice a week, I am in your state for 10 seconds.

Yes, 10 seconds. I cross the delaware in Port Jervis on 84 on my commute.

The eastbound side of the highway is in NJ for about 10 seconds. I'm gonna give you the run-down here:

The NY Safe Act was written quick and sloppy. In the NYSAFE act, it mentions that transportation of high capacity (Whatever that is, again - sloppy writing) through the state was a felony offense. Having more than 7 rounds in a magazine is a felony. Transporting into NY without FFL is a felony. The Federal safe transport rules were over-ridden. (This can't be done, and needs to be challenged in Federal court).
This means I can't bring a 10 round magazine into CT. At all. Ever. Period. My rights are gone.

But for 10 seconds on that trip, I am in NJ. It is, and has always been (Well, for about 20 years) illegal to possess hollow point bullets in NJ. For transportation and everything. That HAS been challenged in Federal Court and New Jersey won. It's a year for every bullet in possession. I normally carry 100 rounds.

Now, CAN I comply ? Sure. I have my 7 rounder .45 guns, an LCP and whatnot. I can buy ball ammo. I can even buy that semi FMJHP stuff. But for about an hour .. I'm a criminal through no fault of my own.

This stuff is legal in my destination and my source states.
I agree with you there. There are a few laws I could comply with that I don't. I don't really care that it makes me a "criminal" though.

I haven't posted here in a really long time but I lurk around every so often. This thread has really struck a chord with how little people (coworkers, general public) are grasping what thr consequences of Mr Obamas actions will bring.

It's always been about the big money in financing and manufacturing for wars but this one seems to have a different feel to it. The past 20 years looks to be business as usual for those who make $$ from conflict but I see an underlying push for bigger gains and control happening.

Before WWII Major General Smedly Butler published the following and the common sense of it all is too much to be ignored, yet most people would dismiss this line of thinking as "conspiracy nuttiness"
War Is A Racket, by Major General Smedley Butler, 1935

The greed of a few will leave generations in misery before long, techniques become more intricate but the goals are the same. Man escalates everything, how long this will hold is an unnerving question. Wil it end with a NWO controlling the populations ie 1984 or does it all collapse,

Imagine if we had leaders and elected officials who actually cared about thier country above thier own bank accounts and agendas and operated with common sense and a real moral compass, the prosperity would be great but greed and corruption make it a pipe dream.

You'll care when :

Your wife or kids are killed in their sleep by a spider bite
Your wife or kids die over a period of weeks from an incurable disease
You're prepping items are taken by the state, your food or supplies are confiscated for rationing (A common Socialist tactic)
You're jailed for what you believe
You're jailed for underestimating the power of the State's conviction process, and you roll through a stop sign and wind up in jail for 10 years.

And Speed: Welcome back ! I do have a quick rebuttal, but will have to read the General Butler stuff in a bit.

Pure Capitalism, when it is allowed to work freely, keeps the power of wealth in the hands of the people. When someone does something that makes them rich (Invents, develops, or tweaks) then they deserve the riches that they get, and those riches come from the empowered consumer. If the product is full of corruption, cheating, or danger then it is the job of the unimpended media to bring these facts to light so that once again - consumers can make their own choices. Capitalism DOES NOT work these days because the government has butted-in and "regulated" innovation into oblivion. Products that are made by slave labor (Just about EVERY electronic device in the world at the moment) need to be reported to the people - and then the people make up their minds to buy from them or not.

At this point every person would rather not buy a Chinese product - But Cheap chinese products have shielded us from the reality of our currency value. I mentioned a few weeks ago - in another topic - about buying a Kayak. A Kayak is $400, and the oar is like $200. For a molded piece of plastic. But buying from China is half the price (Or more?) The problem here is that when you rule out ALL slave products (Petro-products included) then you will finally see what people have been talking about when they say "Your dollar is worthless".

I make between 60 and 100k a year, and can't afford basic American products. My trips to Walmart run me $70 instead of .. literally... $400 from the local farmer's market.

That is not capitalism working. China isn't capitalist. They provide cheap stuff to us based on a "Resource-based Economy", AKA "Slave labor".

Agreed completely. Capitalism without ethics isn't capitalism. It's greed.

Pure Capitalism is a mythical as a utopian communist state. Why do you think the economy collapsed in the mid 2000's? Deregulation and garbage from the consumer.

Tragedy of the Commons in 9th grade taught me that.

It's tough to have a free market when those poised to gain the most set the rules. I agree with your line of thought but how you get it in practice is the tricky part.

Free trade has gutted America - it again comes down to the all consuming greed of those who have the resources and only want more

- I do not want children (seriously, I've had the discussion with my healthcare about what a vasectomy would cost).
-I don't currently have a wife.
But there are dangers of living anywhere. Thanks though, I'm having a rather hectic day now. Reading prepper articles and looking for a bug out vehicle, haha.

Deregulation doesn't kill capitalism. It allows the great to truly flourish and allows the bad to die. Bail outs ended that business model though.

Successful people, when faced with a challenge, find a profitable away around it. "The greedy rich" are just people who are facing challenges, and overcome them. If that means sending a guy to DC with a couple million dollars to give to a senator to buy their services, then so be it.

If I had, say, 10,000 employees and the government setup an obstacle - I would do ANYTHING to keep 10,000 people employed and profitable.

And the government knows this, which is why they setup situations where Lobbyists are invited to give them millions to buy them out. And that's out in the open - that's not even tinfoil area anymore. We tolerate this.

The answer is simple: Let the dollar collapse, return to a stable standard (Such as gold) AVOID RESOURCE BASED ECONOMY, and let the media report on the issues of business without consequence. Then, let the people decide where their money is going to go.

Tell people that they support slave labor by saving a few dollars. Tell them that if they want to support fair labor, that their going to work 100 hours a week for a pair of pants.

I bet they won't change a damned thing.

I agree on the second part. A bail-out has ended a great american principle: When your employer goes out of business, you have a chance to start your own business.

But the Bug out vehicle is something we can discuss in my End of the World thread or something. It's still around.

A collapse might be just what this country needs. So many people's priorities are SOOO out of wack. Just a few days without food and people will realize what's really important.

....and slave labor pants aren't high on the list.

The pants I want cost about $100 to $120. Made in America.

And yes, a collapse is JUST what we need. What's crucial is what will arise after. I have to go, bback.

I pay more for pants now. American made.

did you forget about sandy? the snowpocolypse.

these people couldn't last a week without power.

imagine a REAL collapse?

Are Levi's made in America? I don't really have a choice. The only ones that fit correctly are one cut of Levi's and one cut of Dickies.

I was without power, internet, cell service, modern anything for 2 weeks. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

.

Taking from the Generals article/book I have much less of an issue with his "leather and material" MFGs who redirected thier processes for the war effort and made huge profits, the issue is the Banks and large military industrial complex who continually influences the government into conflict after conflict for no other purpose than to make $$$.

JMO = capitalism while helping the cause is great,
Creating conflict and human casualties to increase the bottom line is abhorrent

Exactly. For the most part there is only 1 party in America.

meanwhile, in your neighborhood, society broke down.
riots at gas stations....
The riots at gas stations were in NY. I didn't hear of any in Jersey. The only ill will I heard about was that a handleful of generators walked off. I know in my neighborhood, some people actually got together and tracked down a group of would be thieves. Got their generators back and held them until police picked them up.

However, I do know that the barrier islands got looted to no end. People were apparently taking boats and jet skis to go steal people's unattended shit. Who cares, money is already rebuilt. It's my friends in Keansburg and Union Beach that are sitting around waiting on FEMA. That "Stronger than the Storm" campaign really grinds the gears of people who are still displaced.
