also thats a 90-91 front bumper
looking good, I still miss my crx.
Starting off with the rust repair. This is what I'm up against
Rust repair and bodywork are coming along decently, should have pictures uploaded soon of the progress. I've had to lean on my dads experience of 40+years in the Bodywork side of the industry but I think it'll look really good when its done.
In other news, I'm debating what to do about my wiring. Its pretty ugly as it current stands and I was wondering how viable it would be to pull the chassis and engine harness out of my 94 Integra and put it in the CRX. That would take care of my dpmfi conversion, obd1 conversion, allow me to use an integra instrument cluster, and run my B18b1 with stock plugs.
it would be simple as a dpfi to mpfi conversion harness and converting to obd1, which for the most part is very straightforward then just swap/mounts/axles , dew it
In a pleasant twist of fate, the drivers side on my CRX is by far the worst area as far as rust and damage, and thats also the cleanest side on my parts car. My dad thinks it would look cool if I welded the quarter windows shut but idk how I feel about that lol. In any case I'll be replacing the driver side qtr panel and a portion of the rear body panel so that will take some time but it should be the best way to resolve the situation.
Body and paint is time consuming but its also not costing me anything so its like a blessing in disguise.
will be a good learning experience and im glad somebody is saving the rusty ones, luckily in gawga the only rusty ones are ones that come from up north
This is why the consensus for building cars has always been, "find a clean shell and build a motor for the car. don't find a great engine and fix the car around it". Bodywork fucking sucks.
Body work isnt that bad when you have all the necesarry supplies already though. I put on some chill R&B and go to work. When it's done I think the body and paint will really help it stand out from the crowd of people who just built clean shells.
Fixed the A/c in my daily driver last weekend, I should be back to working on the CRX shortly. Pics of what I have done so far for motivation.
So I was brainstorming ways i can offload some stuff I probably should get rid of and I had an idea, I have almost everything to put a B18 in the CRX. If I can get it sealed up, and running and driving with a B18 I can unload the motor and shell and get some investment back and move on from it. Thoughts?
yes put a b18 in it cheap as you can and sell it lol
Finally diagnosed my built B18b1, Cylinder 3 valves had a small leak, Cylinder 4 had some pretty crazy carbon buildup on the valve stem and a very big leak. Probably going to pull it off and have the valve system serviced again eventually, but now I know why the motor was burning all that oil.
Sold the CRX Saturday, along with my spare shell. Now I'm just down to my Preludes. It feels nice to simplify things.
For those of you keeping score at home in history's game of "Project cars vs. reality of time, money, effort and skillset"
