The wireless adapters have always been 100. Even the white one was 100 until the black one came out

Truf. It doesn't help that MS for a very long time has or still is loosing money on the actual 360 hardware. Peripherals are where the dollars are.

I guess so man. I have all three new systems. I havent ever bought anything for my xbox other than the battery pack. By the time you get everything a PS3 has in the box, even for the $200 arcade, it costs way more (and the 16g drive is worthless, forza 2 takes 9.1g +). Crazy.

I don't install games to my HDD so my 20 gig has lasted me since release. Now with the user expandable 32 gigs of USB support I am able to put off upgrading for awhile longer.

MS loses money on 360s? Wow. I knew that Sony loses money on every PS3, but I didn't know Microsoft was losing money too...

I am not sure if that is the case anymore. I would imagine it isn't being that they sell the Arcade for pretty damn cheap. But for quit a while they where losing money. Most of the articles I am finding through Google are from 05 and such so they may be out of the woods in that regards.

All console hardware initially lose money. However, dont feel bad because they make it up in software and accessories, "give them the razor, sell them the blade" model. Just look at the markups: $120 for 250gb hard drive, $50 for hdmi cables, etc etc...

But through time, with better manufacturing processes ie smaller chipsets, improve yield, cutting unnecessory "features" out, etc... they bring down the cost. to tell you the truth, i dont thing console makers ever make money on the initial console itself except probably at the very end of its life.

Yeah, come to think of it I'm sure they make a killing on HDMI cables. I always buy mine from Newegg or other websites where they're cheap, but I'm sure a lot of people who don't know any better probably dish out the big bucks for the official Xbox or PS3 or Monster brand cables...

yeah i always get mine and recommend friends and families to get their hdmi cables or cables at either monoprice or meritline. and there have been a bit of research with generic vs monster cable and there are no preceiveble differences except with ultra high end ($50k+) or massive jobs ie jumbo trons, concerts or watever.

anyway, i believe there is a 120gb hack with a western digital blue cavior laptop drive for the xbox 360. as long as you flash it with the same firmware as ms, there is no way they can tell its hacked or be able to ban you from xbox live because its the exact same drive with exact same software.
