So my dad read online that microsoft isnt selling Vista as well as it expected, so by 2008 they are going to completely stop offering windows XP. by doing that they are going to force manufacters (sp?) to put only vista in their computers. they are hoping to boost sales of vista by making it the only OS they offer. i think they are just going to lose a lot of customers, what do you guys think?

Do whatever it takes to push people towards *nix and legislate a minimum IQ to operate a computer.

    I'm on board with that.

jesus christ....some people are seriously opposed to change.

M$ stopped supporting windows 98...i didnt see a shit load of bitching for that. windows XP is a good OS, but vista has its good points as well, especially for home users. Application dependent volume control, transparent interfaces (if you want them) and a OS that makes it very difficult for miss "Im gonna click everything until i see what i want to see" to 'accidentally' download a virus.

vista is just fine. you just need to open your mind to something new. im kinda of the mind that if you arent gonna give vista a chance then what are you gonna do. youre sure as hell not gonna like linux....cause its not xp.

    fuck mac's.

i have a powerbook G4 and a G5 that i had to bring to the apple store last week at work. the laptop for inverter board failure and the G5 for a dead mainboard. thats the second mainboard in a year, in two different G5 towers.

I've got Vista running and my XP machine on my extra HD, seems pretty...normal, some cool features, looks neat, runs all my programs, once you disable that UAC or whatever it isn't annoying anymore, so I don't really see a problem wwith it.

OMG, a two year old workstation grade computer with a failed board. That is like complaining about a hard drive failure in a RAID enclosure.
Our macs have failed boards, IBM, and Intel Processors. Our Blades have failed processors, boards, and Power Supplies. Our custom built server/workstations go through parts as well. That is just how these things are. We want faster computers, that involves pushing more limits, and stressing parts.

dont forget the 2 hours long tech support call to applecare.

most of our MACs have been down this route with failing parts. our other systems (majority acer, some dell and few hp) dont seem to have these issues. im sure the windows platforms are stressed harder phyically (3/4 of our workforce are mobile with laptops and blackberrys). i have to fix more MACs than PCs - and there are 20x more PCs in the company.
