y8 swap problems

alright guys, so i got my y8 swap done in a 88 dx hb and the car runs great when the motor is warmed to operating temp, but when i first fire it up it idles like crap and when i try to give it gas the engine backfires thru the intake manifold but once its warmed up it wont backfire no matter how hard i drive it. i dont get it. the only code it is throwing is a coolant temp sensor code but the gauge works fine so i dont know if that has to do w/ the running prob or not.. any help would be greatly appreciated..

did you check your ignition? Like cap n rotor, coil , spark plugs and wire? IF its throwin a code and its the temp sensor then it should be replaced. I dont really think it matters if it works or not . It could still be a bad sensor.
