    Mercedes-Benz Of Evansville.

I did some searching online and it seems like a nice place to live but i'm having trouble finding a nice looking area to live in within a 20 mile radius or so.

Those of you in Indiana, can you point me in the right direction?

Don't know if you've seen my other threads but I need the area to be pretty decent and have decent schools for my kids. I also am looking to rent a 3-4 Bedroom house, condo, town house, and maybe even apartment (if it's nice/big enough) for no more than $750. the cheaper the better though :)

Is that amount doable for the area I want? I few guys who accepted jobs from this dealer found 3 bedroom houses for $350-$500 a month but i'm not exactly sure what type of area they are in.

    Any help is appreciated :D

I live in Indiana, but Evansville is on the complete opposite side of the state. It's literally on the Indiana/Kentucky border within an hour of Illinois. The only way I could live further north of there is if I lived in Fremont on the Indiana/Michigan border.

I've never been to Evansville, but so far I haven't seen any part of the state with townhouses above 700 a month aside from in Indianapolis.

I think you would be able to find a good 3-4 bedroom apartment between 500-800 a month.

Yeah I can but ultimately, the service managers, service directors, and shop foremans would rather hear from the Mercedes-Benz rep at school first because she's not going to suggest a student who may not work out for that particular dealer.

Sounds good. the cost of living seems to be very good out there.

Are there any cities close to Evansville that you could suggest based upon hear say since you've never been there?

There aren't really any notable cities around Evansville, closest I've been to it is down I69 between Indy and Louisville, which is a few hours still east of it.

I would suggest hitting up google maps and start researching some of the "suburbs" around it, most small towns will have their own websites with school information/crime stats, etc.

Maybe at some point then you could transfer your job up to Ft Waynes' MB dealership and you could buy a house here where median house prices are between 70-120k. lol

OMG please do not move from California to Indiana. It is NOT worth it to go that far, to somewhere that different, for anything less than 6 0s. It is super flat. You will hate it.

Unlike many, I do NOT believe that cheap housing is a reason to live somewhere. You get what you pay for. I'm sorry. That's just the way it is.

I'll try and search that city-data website... Thanks

Lol, i'm not leaving permanently... I will come back to Cali within 5 years.

And on top of the job offer, they also offered to pay for my FULL tuition, not just the $6250 that the Mercedes-Benz program cost me, and pay me to keep up on my online training at home. So I could flag a few hours on a saturday if i'm bored and my kids don't feel like going anywhere lol.

I know that wasn't his point. I have a few friends that are relocating and that seems to be their primary motivation. It was more of a general statement.

If they're going to pay your tuition and really take good care of you, then do it. Obviously the whole family thing will make it a little more difficult. If you were single with no kids I'd say do it in a heartbeat. It would be a good adventure.

Houses in bad neighborhoods do not have lawns, white picket fences, and floors that rival Jeffies...

definately not lol. I plan on leasing an apartment for 6 months first. That way I can get a feel of the city and take my time choosing the perfect house and place.

Just curious... ever actually lived in Indiana?

I mean yeah, I jest about Cali, but I've never been there so i don't expect eg, b16 or you to take me seriously... just wondering if you've lived here long enough to actually know what it's like to live in the hoosier state?
