zc sohc vtec/ p28 ecu

I have a zc sohc vtec w/ p28 .The zc does not come w/ a vtec press. switch . question is is there anyway to engage vtec w/o the press. switch or does the ecu have to see that switch?

yes there is. The proper way to do this would be to remove the check for Vtec pressure from the code. This is not beginner territory, however.

There is a discussion about this over on the PGMFI.ORG site right now... Development/OBD1 forum. The discussion centers around activating vtec without the 25mph speed requirement, but would apply equally to your situation.

At a minimum, you are looking at a chipped ECU with custom program.

The *easy* way of doing this would be to add a wire from the Vtec pressure pin on the ECU (look it up - I don't remember off top of my head) to ground. This will effectively fool the ECU into thinking it always has vtec pressure.
