Default 90 si rear discs

i found a 90 teg thats smushed to nothing (In the front) and i want to put the rear discs on my 90 civic si. i found this website that tells me mostly what i need except i thought i had to use the booster and master cylender off the teg .do i if i'm using the stock discs on the front of my si?

this is what i found.

you should, but dont have to. get the proportioning valve off the teg if you can, that's more important than the master cylinder and booster.

upgrading the cyl and booster will give you a stronger pedal
not NEEDED but definitely nice

same goes for the prop valve

he's right about the pedal, because a larger master cylinder will move more fluid per unit of travel at the pedal. the converse is true also, a larger piston in your caliper will require more fluid to move, and require more pedal movement to get the same distance traveled as the smaller piston.

the proportioning valve however, limits fluid to the rear brakes, to keep the balance of front/rear braking. a wheel cylinder and a caliper require very different amounts of fluid to get the same clamping/expanding force. this will have no noticeable effect on pedal travel or feel.

Just use the master cylinder from a 91 ex civic. It'll bolt to your stock booster perfectly and it's a 15/16... save yourself the time from switching out the booster. Make sure you also get the non abs 40/40 prop valve from the integra...

wow, that guy painted ONE dust shield and ONE caliper. those might not be from the same vehicle... me and my over-observant insanely obvious observations.

the only 4g civics we have in canada are the CX DX and Si (hatchback). CX is very, very basic, dx is a bit more nicer (CX and DX have D15b2 engines) and si (d16a6) we also have the sedan only in DX and LX (D15b2) and the wagon which is only 2 wheel drive and D15b2 (i think might be 4wd and D16a6 i've never seen one) i know the '92-'95 civic ex is si in canada and the '96-'99 civic ex is si in canada. and in canada the sir is your si. its very confusing, i know

you didn't do anything wrong, however no dust shield/caliper is painted from the factory on these cars. some paints can actually impede the calipers ability to shed heat. i don't paint any for that reason, but most aftermarket calipers are painted from the factory. brembo, willwood, spoon, alcon, etc. so the heat issue probably doesn't outweigh the benefit of no rust. sometimes form follows function, in this case, maybe function isn't effected much, or at all.

I did this conversion on my EF but I didnt do the prop. valve or MC or booster and you can really tell it stops better compared to drum.
