roughly how much boost will stock internals take, for (safe) DD? planning on b16 head swap at later date.

Why don't you just wait until you are ready to do the vtec conversion to boost it?

Stock sleeves on the B20 suck.

alright guy, you're on your own on this one.

no b20 block is a low comp. block atleast 10lbs my friend has a stock b16 on 10 lbs and is hold up real good

you will be lucky to get 5 psi out of that block, for more than 10 passes like george said the b20 sleeves suck

Based on the research I have done, the stock sleeves on a B20 will only hold about 4-6psi from a T4 60 trim turbo with a modest tune. Granted, these numbers can be used loosely as you see fit, but if you plan to make any kind of power out of that motor, at the very least you need to resleeve it.

:disgust1:

if you replace the rods, rod bolts, and pistons and its tuned well they can take some boost. there are plenty of people making 300hp on stock sleeve b20s. i know of one that makes over 400whp with stock sleeves, and for 6 months and counting.

but he said STOCK.. .stock means stock to me

you guys keep talking about the sleeves....
from all the research i have done and from what ive personally seen, the weak link is the rod bolts. the stock sleeves are prone to getting hot becuase they are thin, but if the engine is tuned well they can handle a bit of pressure.

this subject interests me a lot because i am currently planning a build of my b20z bottom end :D

Boo.
yeah it might hold up 10 if its tuned really well. but dont be revving it to 8000+ rpms.
Boo.

How many times must I say this? PSI is completely irrelevant UNTIL you select a turbo size. I wish everyone on this board would understand that. It'd solve a lot of problems more quickly.

To the OP: Stock B20 internals would make me nervous above 200whp especially if it is a DD. Build it right, or don't do it at all.

I selected a turbo size/trim, and did a little research...

that was just my point.v dont really have a need for more than 200hp, damn speed cameras get you if your 10mph over posted, gets exspensive having a lead foot.
