well, dont know if i've told you guys before but i've always wanted a VW Bug .. now i'm not keeping this shell pictured, its just here for documentation.. lol.. Story goes, when i met my fiance she drove a '71 Bug, a few months later she ended up buying an '01 GSR so her sister started driving her bug and ended up wrecking it... well, she went on and got another car and left the Bug parked and wrecked.. then her other younger sister got her license and decided to buy a shell and put her motor in it since they still had it.. she got it running and found out it couldnt be registered because it had already been registered as junk.. here is where i come in.. it had sat for 2 yrs untouched so i say let me have it.. haha.. they say okay.. so i called my aunt who works at a towyard and ask her how much for a tow.. luckily she said nothing, they owners are out of town.. :D ..

the plan is to yank the motor, suspension and everything off the car and part it out.. i'm keeping the motor, tranny, exhaust and maybe suspesion and selling the rest...
with the money made from parting it out i'll be buying '66 or under Bug shell and building that up, preferably a '63..

here is the tow guy picking up the car..

and here it sits now .. just in time.. started pouring rain out of nowhere

once the weather clears up i'm gonna head out and clean everything up (spider webs and dirt) .. then start stripping it down..

the look i'll be going for is somewhere along the lines of this.. not sure on color yet

notice the difference in the headlights.. this is a 63 pictured, the headlights slant w/ the fender like old skool porches.. the 71 the headlights bulge out

there isnt gonna be much to look at for a bit, but i'll keep pics of the progress i make

I've always toyed with the idea of modding up a bug.. If one fell in my lap like that, I might actually do it, but I'm not motivated enough to go hunt one down.

Hell, I'm still looking for the Honda for my cafe project..

hell yeah. my first car i had was a '73 Super Beetle. good little car and cheap as shit to maintain. a gas line came loose and the car caught on fire and was totaled. only thing that was left was the front wheels, front bumper and front license plate. the fire got so hot that the engine and rear tires melted to the road.

oh, they make air bag kits for those

its got a basically brand new motor.. just before her sister wrecked her car she blew the motor, had a new one put in..

My buddy has a super beatle I think its a 73 and he put coil over suspension with Porche brakes and sway bars it has the same type of suspension so he says. He even has some 16" porche rims it looks cool but due to the fact its a project its missing alot of stuff he has never driven it more than around the block. They make a kit so you can put a RX-7 rotory motor in there as well. You should put a turbo RX-7 motor in you bug

well, i plan on really doing the suspension.. not sure what yet because i havent researched much yet.. but it'll be track capable hopefully

if anything i'd boost the motor i have..

My brother just sold his. I can't remember the year, but the thing was nice. He rebuilt the motor to a 1648cc (?) and did something with the carbs. Thing was quicker than I thought it was going to be.

Saw this one at Octane Fest '08 in Fallon, NV. Thing was ridiculous.

The engine blocks are made of magnisium, so they burn like crazy.

That is awesome. I've always wanted to panel out a vehicle old school bomber style.. (airbrushed, like that bug, of course).. I was 2 seconds away from doing an old jeep cherokee of mine when a buyer showed up.

It ran rediculously fast down the track. It was there for inspection and some track time. My buddy has more pics of it. I'll see if I can get a hold of him so he can send them to me.
