I ordered a custom case and some other bits and pieces to mod my box last night, and I thought it would be kinda cool to document my 'build' lol :D

Right now I'm in the process of adding some LED's to the DVD drive...

Pic's will come once my camera is done charging.

Also if any of you know by chance, which type of resistor do I need to use when scaling a 3.3v current down to 2v-2.4v? If anyone knows that would help... I have looked at some resistor calculators online,

http://www.dannyg.com/examples/res2/resistor.htm

but none are really telling me the details that I'm looking for.

Are you doing just a case mod or are you going to chip your 360? Id love to see some pictures when you get goin.

For now I'm just doing a case mod plus some LED's to get started..

I'm kinda noob with this stuff lol.

After the case mod and some lighting, I'm gonna try some controller LED mods and possibly, cutting a crescent shape out of my DVD drive, so I can watch the disc spin,... and yeh lol.

Thinking since this is my warranty voided box.... I might go all out on it!
This is all just practice for when I grow some balls and pop open my Elite... in three years.. lol

Damn it takes a long time to upload high quality shit.

Also... yes, I know the paint is fucked up in a few places, thanks to me being high off my ass from the vapors it left behind.

ps: when i get the case mod in about a week, I'll open up the oem case and show my soldering work with the LED's I installed today. I just don't feel like opening it back up right now...

You think I didnt mean to do that ? lol I will admit it wasn't what I had in mind when I set out to paint the case, but I made a mistake and just went along with it. Believe me man, It looks better than it was supposed to.

Keep in mind this is NOT the new case. It will be here in about a week to a week and a half.

lol make sure you give us pix! :D

or ill send the gay gnomes with spray paint to your car....

Ahh stfu:ph34r:

After seeing Friday the 13th i kinda had an idea of painting it to look like blood splatter shit... I think it looks pretty fucking cool, other than the little mishaps... But it's all good, when the new case arrives, I'll be stripping that one and repainting it chrome red.

That shit will be hawt! :D

Actually I'm seeing some stuff that looks real good...

From alsacorp... i might look into this type of finish.

They also have chrome paint in a can, for 40 bucks a can, so it better be good.

Their chrome paint is supposed to look like this when complete:

You need to find out the amperage(current), which will help you select the right resistor. A diode would probably be better since it's more consistent at different currents(usually about .7v for a silicon diode).

And that means? What exactly...

I thought a resistor was the way to go but you say use a diode? Isn't and LED just a diode that E.mits L.ight?

Yes, a LED is a light-emitting diode Are you trying to step down voltage just to use the LED?

That and to extend the life and/or not blow the LED's... I don't wanna have to open her up again for a while if I can do something now that will prevent that from happening. ;)

This is why I'm being uptight about resistor choices lol

Also just the act of opening the 360 is a PITA.

what the fuck is that?
I have no fucking clue... really... It's just some shape that AlsaCorp uses to showcase their various paint finishes...

I wondered the same thing when I first saw it.

UPDATE! and they're attached, once again... I would put them in the actual post but they're far too large to reasonably post them.

1st pic

is my DVD drive, which I will cut out the part that is outlined in black with the crossed lines thru it.

2nd pic

The location on the RF/ Power button board where you will find some unswitched power.
Top wire is the pos. and solid white is the gnd. This is where the power for my LED (3rd pic) near the bottom of the console comes from.

The 5mm LED in the bottom of the case. (when standing upright, on the right when on its side) The 5th pis is when its lit.

For now just pics of the skeleton, as I'm testing and positioning the lights for optimal coolness.

Okay more pics... mostly the cut outs in the chassis and the upper panel of the chassis:

so... that that for the skele pics... if I can manage to keep Firefox from crashing again, I'll post the pics of it fully assembled.
