took awhile to actually get to it, but it turned out that the pulley indeed had enough slop in it to cause my timing issues. i pulled the whole timing cover off to verify TDC marks on the cam gears and crank gear. they all lined up perfectly, then put the pulley back on with the covers off so...

the axle you use will depend on what intermediate shaft you use. if it's the 94-01GSR intermediate shaft, you'll need that axle for the driver side. if it's the DA intermediate shaft, you'll need that driver side axle. the passenger side will get the DA axle no matter that trans you use.

i just installed an obd1 b16a into my CRX. while the motor was out, i replaced the timing belt and water pump. the arrow on the oil pump lined up perfectly with the line on the crank gear while the two dots on the cam gears also lined up. i turned the engine over a few times then verified all...

one last question, which water pump do i use? the ones labeled for the z6 dont have the a6 in their application list, and the a6 pumps dont list the z6. obviously the a6 pump cause thats what the pump bolts to, but will that affect the timing belt?

someone wired up the reverse light switch to where there should be a different sensor. not sure which one, but that's the only thing i can think of that would cause that sort of thing. look at the connector for the reverse switch, see what it's plugged into, then look for another sensor that...

the pulley is a two part item, an inner cup with an outer ring laminated onto it by some rubber similar to a motor mount. that's what does the dampening, however with age, it decomposes. get a new crank pulley. and by new i mean new to you (junk yard, ebay, craigslist, etc.)
