A-typical Swaps

What other kinds of cars do people put Honda engines into? :p

I'm looking into buying a Pointiac Fiero or a Lotus Esprit (1st gen.. S1?) and if a swap is feasible, getting into it.
I like those cars but they could use the greater power and reliability of a Honda engine.
I'm pretty sure it would take a bit of modifications to do. Like super custom mounts or welding in new mount points. Custom shift linkages, modified clutch & throttle cables and so on.

What's everyone's take on it?

Thanks,
Scott

I've seen people ask on feoa.net about putting a B18c5 into a 91-96 Escort GT.

for a MR car, you will have to consider on how to shift the gears. For an H22 or a k20, it wouldn't be too hard because you could run a pully system, but your your going to have to become really crafty if you want an engine with a solid shift linkage.

A friend of mine in CT swapped a Supercharged V8 Northstar (out of a deville i think) into a fierro and its friggin sweet. I think he said he was posting high 11s which is pretty damn cool for a fierro.

But in honda area the B18 would be sweet in something like a Mazda 323 or a Toyota Trecel (ultimate sleeper with some good engine work)

As long as the 323 is the FWD version it'd work, but you'd be wasting your time putting a b18c into an awd 323GT.

I was looking at cars which either had rear engines already or were cool looking FWD cars. I also thought it would be wicked to drop a B18c into a DeLorean and give it some pep. But DeLoreans aren't as cheap as a Fiero. ~$10k <_<
B18c DeLorean would be a pretty cool sleeper too, heck why not put a JDM H22 in it.

A B18C wouldn't give a Delorean any "pep", it weighs just over 2700lbs, and has 65% of the weight in the rear.

There was a Lotus with a b18c swapped in in one of my old Car and Drivers. Or maybe it was in Super Street. Couple of years ago any way. Might have been a type R, cuz it had the red valve cover. It was a tight fit, but it looked sweet. And I like Lotus'.

Exactly. Remember, hondas can be quick and handle well because the civic is a pretty light car. Things like Mustangs and Camaros make a TON of power stock, but because they are like 70% heavier, they are about as quick as then lets say a GSR hatch. If you threw a built NA GSR in a mustang or a camaro, the thing wouldn't even be fast enough to get out of its own way. Hell hills would probally be a challenge. 180hp in a 3000+lb car = slow as hell. 180hp in a 1500lb car = bat out of hell.

LS1 in almost any car will make it go fast. GSR will make light cars go fast.

Haha, for real.

You shouldn't bother swapping a b18c into anything that weighs more than 2400lbs.

just because the 2JZ has more torque than the NSX thats no reason why the handling would suck. :D

It's called taking a 1.8 liter 4-cyl and replacing it with an iron block TT inline 6 that weighs probably 200-300 lbs more and dropping it on the nose of a perfectly balanced car.

well theyve(the japs) have dropped a turbo tri-rotor 20b in a ae86 corolla; imo that is better than dropping in the 2jz.
