B16A2 cylinder knock

If anyone can help me with this one I'd appreciate it. I just installed a B16A2 into my 95 hatch and there's a knocking sound on start up and it isn't idling smoothly. When revving, the sound gets quieter, or at least stays the same, so I don't think that it's cylinder related. It seems to be running really rich also. I suspected a misfire, so I changed the plugs and wires, but no difference. There are no codes coming up, but the oil light is on steady. Any ideas out there???

have you checked your oil? sounds like a rod knock.

is it a knock or a tick cuz it it was valve lash it might do that. also does it do it when it is warm?

Nope, but thanks for the ideas. I had a brain freeze and didn't check the timing. Mind you, my mechanic didn't think of that right off the bat either. All fixed up now and ready for upgrades. :sleep:
