The engine bay was not painted when the rest of the car was, but we are going to take care of that. Here is the engine bay, gutted for the most part. And a shot of the frame rail where it is knocked back to clear the alternator pully according to Hasport's instructions. It had been spraypainted black to cover up the red inside, so we had to sand all of that shit off. We are going to seal and paint it soon, i will post up pics of it.

I doubt it, see my friend does paint and body work and this was a decision he made when he was 16 to put the kit on. He is now 21 and probably wouldnt have made that decision now a days, but its a little late now. The car wont really be on the track. It is just going to mainly be a spirited daily driver. He will most likely just drive it on the weekends. At least the kit was reinforced and done right compared to 95% of all the other cars i see.

Some pics of the head. I cant find any of the pics of the cams :( .

Well thats all for now. Currently waiting on the quaife to get here. I will post pics of that install. Also waiting to finish painting the engine bay but that should be done by this weekend. I will be working on the wiring. I have to do the dpfi to mpfi conversion and then the obd1 conversion shit, but thats no biggie. I will definetly keep updating this thread as the build continues. Hell if i feel real ambitious i will post up my boosted ls/vtec build in my si with the $10,000 worth of goodies it has!!

Is this a race dedicated engine? If not those ACL Race bearings are going to be a longevity problem, according to Earl Laskey (r.i..p) and Benson's Machine shop anyway.

is that a honda only thing? 3 of my friends have built small blocks (ford and chevy) all three are running ACL bearings (actually i think after writing that, one of them is running clevite). None have under 20k miles, one has gone up to 48k. Now if you mean longevity past that, i cant say for sure, i can just say that weve only pulled one of those motors since it was dropped, and that was a blown head gasket (the ford of course).

any ways, looks sick man. if yall get it to the track let us know how it does. make sure you get some tuning time in on that baby. itd be sad to see all the money wasted.

The Race Bearings are not any bigger then their standard duraglide bearings, unless you order them that way. I have the standard set, not .01 bigger, that would make absolutely no sense for them to sell them that way. No one's clearances would pan out without having the crank machined.

But anyways yes this thing will be tuned out right away. I use the moate's ostrich and CROME Pro, with LM-1 wideband. No sense in building it if its not going to run right, huh!!

just makin sure. a buncha people think building a honda is like building a carbed SBC....and the moment they realize its not, they usually have a connecting rod hanging out of the block.

I know exactly what you are talking about, lol!! They buy thousands of dollars worth of parts and build a highly modified engine. Then they run the factory ecu and scratch their heads when it runs like shit and blows up shortly after! You should of seen this dumbass I bumped into the other day. He's talking about how he knows so much more then me, and that his car will be faster and so on. He has a stock internal b16 with a huge t4 turbo, 900cc injectors, and a emanage ultimate. The car cant even come close to running right. I told him he had way too much turbo and injector, but hey what do I know! I asked him if he knew what a wideband was and he gave me a funny look, thats when i ended the conversation.
