Last week, we lost one of the most influential and talented people ever to grace the stage with a mic in his hand. All of us in Brighter By The Hour grew up listening to and idolizing the Beastie Boys, and it would be ridiculous to say that they haven't influenced hundreds, if not thousands or millions, of modern acts today - regardless of genre.
Having never before played this tune together as a band, we decided to throw down a fresh-off-the-top cover of 'Fight For Your Right' in our practice space this morning, and post it on the interwebs as a tribute to Adam Yauch, aka MCA. This is legitimately the second time we ever played this track all the way thru, and other than live tracking it in Cubase, throwing a rough mix on, and dumping it to CDR, we did zero production, tweaking, etc. on it - 'just throw it down and go with it', in true Beastie style. Hopefully somewhere up there Adam is looking down, listening, and smiling.
Gone but not forgotten, forever alive in our memories, and cool as a cucumber in a bowl of hot sauce. RIP MCA.
