Hi

Quick run down - eg hatch, h22a, prelude 5 spd LSD box, EMS Motorsport stand alone, short ram intake with k&n pod, headers and full exhaust

Stock cams, intake mani, tb, head, internals

Has gone 14.00 @ 100mph

After into from those who know about h22's as I'm getting mixed info on which mods are best :(
Or if someone could tell me a shop that specialises in or has dealt with h22's and I could talk to them :)

Had one shop tell me h22's don't respond to cams and even the biggest cams would only net me 4hp... As ridiculous as that sounds its prompted me to make this post.

Was thinking of doing:
stage 3 skunk cams
Full head - 1mm oversized valves and springs to suit cams
Slightly larger tb
Ported stock intake mani and removal of butterflys from runners
Retune after mods obviously
I have a brand new AEM meth injection kit I could throw on also
Bigger/better headers ( need help with brand and size)

Not planning to shave the head or do pistons and rods just yet as would like to leave options open to possibly turbo one day.

Aim is for daily/drag which all my cars have been, have had a few 500hp evos and supras etc but am over the turbo stuff for now, Too much hassles....

Need help ASAP as many events are coming soon and would love to start modding!!

Thanks in advance :)

Get that stand alone ECU dyno tuned to see where you are at.

Not sure about cams. I would suggest you check out some prelude forums and see what those guys say. Not too many H-Series members here. But...I may get surprised and others chime in.

Pretty sure a B-Series VTEC transmission will get you gains too. Tons of guys roll H2B swaps with good success. They can hit 12's in a hatch with H/I/E and slicks.

Just remembered I forgot to put my current hp - 175hp
Current tune is good with +4 degrees timing up top standard is +30 so running +34
Afr under load is 13:1

I'd prefer to stay prelude box as its much stronger - and bonnets don't close right with b series box lol - I though people run h2b setups to save money by not having to buy the prelude box?..

bought some RMF headers today :p

also carbon bonnet... seibon.!! light as!!!!!!!

You are the first person I've ever come into contact with that feel the prelude transmission is (in any way) superior to a B-Series VTEC transmission. But if its working well for you....keep rockin'

I'm guessing through all the sarcasm you disagree?? Why don't you explain it to me instead...

No doubt prelude box would be stronger... And that what suits me more.

Ive read the only reason they use b series box was due to ratios for drag racing.

No sarcasm. Just know they have a tendency to grind out quicker than B-Series. From my knowledge......the prelude trans is considered a drag racing weak point. More specifically.....the syncros are weak and tend to fail sooner than B-Series transmissions. Grinds that can lead to pop outs or stuck in a gear (3rd gear)

But B-Series transmissions are better than K-Series transmissions too :shrug2:

Yeah I heard k series are shit lol

My lude box grinds 2nd consistantly lol has done so since I bought the car haha I still give it hell daily and it won't die. I bought a 2nd lude box a few months back and will be strengthening it up, prob with straight cut 1st to 4th

Synchros aside, you think the actual gears on the h series box would be much bigger and stronger than the b series boxes?!?!

Well b series came with a 100hp motor and h series box came with 220hp sorta a no brainer which would have bigger stronger gears :p

Just an educated guess.

B-Series 100hp? Smallest B-Series VTEC is 160hp (B16A's) B18C5's are 195hp.
Even a LS B18B1 is 140hp and a decent amount of torque.

Syncros will go before the tensile strength of a gear fails. All day every day.

I swear it's just me and you on this site lol

Doesn't seem to be many active members...

well i found out why they run the b series box - says it will shave 1 tenth of a sec down the quarter lol - not really worth the swap...

an extra 2hp should compensate... might change the fuel filter to get that lol

2hp is a tenth? Maybe if you were running mid 17's lol.

A tenth of a second (in sub 14 second cars) is often found by removing 50-75lbs of weight off the car.

A tenth of a second in sub 11 second cars.....that's serious HP gain.

Lol my comment was a joke yet you reply so seriously :p "godfather are you mad!!!" hehe. Ok serious talk now:

Well I've put an order in for Lexan windows (both rear quarters and rear screen) and am searching for a carbon trunk also.

I recently purchased a carbon bonnet and will most likely be removing the entire bonnet latch setup, cable, latch, brackets etc etc and just run 2 or 4 aerocatch pins.

Also just purchased a guard roller lol and have been searching for some wider rims for up front to get some fat drag radials under there.

Should def see a decent drop in weight.

Have sent a few emails out to various shops with a parts list for engine mods too.

A few more things in the pipeline ;)

ok so instead of building the h series box have been thinking of going the b series but whats the main appeal? is it just ratios?
