Energy suspension ball joint boots

I need to know if I am supposed to use the retainer clips from the factory lower ball joint boots with the energy suspension boots. I tried to put one of the retainer clips on the energy suspension boots but they won't stay in place. They will move around and fall all they way down. I noticed the factory Honda ball joint boots have a grove for the retainer clips that helps them stay in place. The energy suspension boots don't have a groove for the retainer clips, and do not come with retainer clips.

The energy ones are not meant to have a clip like OEM. It sounds strange but when everything is torque'd to spec it'll stay in place fine.

I've always just stuck the Energy bushings over the top of the OEM boot
