The last two times I've filled up my car, I've noticed that air rushes into the gas tank when removing the cap, as if a vacume was created from within the tank... WTH is up with that? That can't possibly be normal... Wouldn't this put more stress on the fuel pump?

the gas cap pressurizes the gas tank, and so if it's almost empty and you've been running it, the tank gets, well, pressurized, so the air is actually escaping, and yes, it's normal.
