How can I tell what tranny I have. I was told it was an LS, but when i am at 70 mph my speedo is at 4000 rpms. Is there a serial etc on the tranny I can look at?
Yes my tires are the correct size and the rpms are correct.

Thanks
Khai

That is exactly why i am confused. By looking at that chart it says i do not have an ls tranny. Does anyone else have a b20 vtec with ls tranny and at 70 mph in 5th gear you are at 4000 rpms?

I have a b16 tranny and at 70 mph I'm at 3800 rpms

:withstupid:

I have a B16a2 transmission as well.

5th gear at 70 mph is 3800 rpm, 80 is right around 4400 rpm.

I did look at E's guide that is why i am asking you guys. According to E's guide it says an LS tranny at 70mph in 5th gear is in the low 3000 rpms but I was told my tranny is an ls, but at 70 mph in 5th gear it is at 4000. IS there any way i can tell what tranny i have.
PS the tires are the correct size and the rpms are right.

I dunno if there's any markings stamped on the transmissions. I'm willing to bet its a B16 tranny. What kind of engine do you have?

OH, and what kind of car do you have?

check the stamping on the tranny

I'm sure his next question would be where would the marking be? I know it's in plain site on my old Escort (if you have the air filter assembly out)...but you know honda...doing things all weird and shit...

It is a b20b with b16 head. 12:1 compression. Yeah that is my next question where is the stamping..

My b16a2 tranny has a VIN tag on it (don't remember which side)...but anyway, I took that number and entered it on carfax. Carfax confirmed that the engine/tranny came from a 2000 Civic Si. This info was provided in the webpage before they asked for my credit card#. Try that.
