So my 3ghz G40 wasn't cutting it anymore. My work now requires alot of remote desktop & VNC work, onto PC's that are at 1280x1024... And when you are tunneling connections, and your laptop only goes up to 1024x768... It starts sucking QUICK...

So I told I.T. I needed something with Power like my G40, but higher resolution...

This is what they gave me...
HP Compaq NX9600
P4 HT 3.6Ghz
1GB DDR SDRAM
100GB Hard Drive
ATi Radeon Mobility x600 Video w/ 64MB RAM
DVD/RW
GigaBit Ethernet/802.11b/g/Bluetooth (I think)/56k Modem
Built in 6 in 1 Media Card Reader
FULL SIZE KEYBOARD WITH NUMBER PAD!! (Ever seen that in a laptop?)
4 USB Ports / 1 Firewire Port
HP USB Digital Drive
17" Widescreen with Glass Front running at 1650x1050 resolution...

Big enough for ya?

Next to a Yuengling for size reference...

The only downfalls... 90 minute battery lifespan (2nd Battery On Order), and just shy of 10lbs not including power supply...

werd. very similar to mine. i run 1440x960 though (odd size, i know). But I hear ya on the vnc to larger desktops. sucks ass... lol

Yeah... Imagine VPN'ing from my 1024x768 laptop to a remote network... Then Remote Desktop into 1 PC running at 1280x1024... Then VNC from that PC to a 2nd PC thats on the internal network that is also running on 1280x1024... SUCKS...

WTF is dameware?

Not bad :) more video memory though! and i dont like the desktop processor in it. Thats why your battery life blows. Solid compuer though to say the least. And my dell isnt bad...

2.2 ghz Pentium M
2 GB of ram
120 GB 7200 Hd
256 mb nvidia GPU with 420 mhz
Running 1900 res

Does your keyboard have a backlight? I want one of those.

My computer is better than yours... flossing the edick ehh?

2.2 ghz pentium M (you got me there)
2 GB ddr2 (got yah)
17 inch truelife lcd (+2 for me)
120 GB 7200 hardrive (shall i say +3)
Dual layer dvd-r/rw (ehh who knows)
Wifi intel pro a/b/g
1 gb lan
i am bluetooth ready :)
6 - usb (me again)
dvi/firewire/svideo/cardreader all included
Nvidia 6800 ulrta 256 GPU with a oc'd 420 mhz (you)

in the end Joe +4 - Chris +3
Also in he end that Dell cost me ~1200

mine was free. +100000

i also have a small-dock. i opted for the smaller HDD so i could get rid of some of my stuff lol. still got too much. this 100gb is almost full plus my external 250gb is 3/4 full :)

Mine was technically free (work)... But is $1029... And has a 17" Widescreen... Not a 15"... So basically your laptop is similar spec to mine, with smaller screen, slower processor, and a DVI Port... For almost $300 more. :D

Check & Mate.

I like the keyboard. I've seen it before but they are few and far between.

Personally I would have gone with something that had an AMD processor in it. Otherwise it's hot stuff. Enjoy the new machine!

Good luck finding a balls out processing power AMD Laptop.

Try using a real OS that takes advantage of that 64 bit goodness and you'll see real fast where the power of an AMD processor is.

No use in having a V12 if you only use half the cylinders.
