You need it, it is there because after the set rpms your motor stops making power, and can do serious damage to your motor.

Why do you want to get rid of your rev limiter? If your engine isn't built to rev higher then the factory red-line, you can damage it. Also, are you using after-market cams that will allow you to make power in the range you want to rev to? If not, then there's absolutely no point in doing this...
