ok i'll take up for this cause i do it everyweekend. for money and for fun.
I street race in industrial area's with people watching. its a 2 lane going each way with a concrete divider. we also race on 2 side streets, and then a road that traffic does come on alot but here is the thing. IF we are ever racing and see someone that wouldnt be there, a bus, tow truck or some random person we wave them thru. and wait til they are gone. we don't hold them up for that long but we always wave people thru.
Now the people that come out to watch- most been coming out for years the rest is the new crowd and each person that gets in the car to come there knows the danger. we all know what can happen. i have NEVER seen a car hit a person before since i been racing in philly ( almost 5 years). i HAVE seen a bus hit a girl in the same place we race cause the guy couldnt wait for us to wave him thru, he decided to jump a curb and go the wrong way thus hitting a girl walking across the road to her car. I have also seen people wreck, but we have stopped to help and make sur ethey are ok. we call the police and the friends always stay with them. do stupid people race? yeah they do, but they are everywhere.
fast and the furious ruined that but they learn when they watch the old school people out there. we dont' race on highways, we don't race on busy ass city streets with people all around that aren't there for racing. we race where we race and we do what we do.
most accidents come from kids running from the cops. i saw 3 this last weekend just cause of this. 3 wrecks on running from the cops. hell if you ask the local gas stations most of the time they lose money after we leave cause people buy gas, they buy drunks, they buy food. even if its so the cops won't yell at you in the parking lot, we atleast bought something. we don't hurt anyone out there. we hurt pavement, we hurt tires, trannies hell any breakable car part.
i been doing this for years and i wont stop. there is no respect you get at the track that compares to the street. it makes ya feel good when people come talk to you about your racing or driving and you dont know them. it makes ya feel good roasting some dude talking shit. you can pick your race and battle it out. track doens't work like that. most of the time your lined up against some stupid mustang owner , after you waited an hour in the staging lanes. how fun is that? don't get me wrong i go to the track any weekend i can. cause i like seeing if i am faster or slower but the street is where i will stay
