Which Transmission for a B-series Honda

No matter HOW a car is powered - NA, Super, Turbo, NOS, ZEX, Propane, or anything else that involves a transmission with gear reduction, a car will ALWAYS accelerate the fastest with the CLOSEST transmission.

Saying an LS tranny (long geared) is good for boost is simply wrong.
"staying in boost longer" is also a false statement.

If you have traction problems, solving them with a longer tranny is the WRONG way to do it. Tires, suspension setup, and other forms of traction enablers are what you should be looking at- not slowing yourself down.

Taking the differential out of the equation for this - assume all can be replaced with a limited slip. This is focused on gearing only.

So, here's my recommendation, and your needs and opinions may vary depending on your exact use case and overall goals for the car.

(assuming 94+ b-series)

For a Drag car:
JDM ITR/CTR w/ 4.785 FDR
(Closest gearing / lowest top speed / fastest acceleration)
If you're trapping over 150, you may need to go with an LS 5th gear or up your tire size to effectively lower your final drive.

Dedicated Road course/AutoX:
JDM ITR/CTR Transmission w/ 4.785 FDR
(Closest gearing / lowest top speed / fastest acceleration)

Fast Street car/weekend toy/ AutoX / Budget Road course or budget Drag car:
Si/USDM ITR (4.40 FDR)
(Close gearing / lower top speed / fast acceleration)

Daily Driver Street Car / Weekend warrior:
GSR
(semi-close gearing / moderate top speed / moderately fast acceleration)
Good balance for a daily driver, reducing highway drone and rpms, and still having the tightness needed for good acceleration

Top Speed car / Gas mileage seeker:
LS
(Longest gearing / highest top speed / slowest acceleration)
Good for commuters or those hitting the salt flats and wanting to break 180 mph.
