Whats the gray plug on top of a y1 tranny for? What sensor is it?

Do you have a pic?
You you have your speedo cable in the tranny?
Do you have your reverse light switch hooked up?

chances are it is for the VSS vehicle speed sensor, if this isnt hooked up your vtec will NOT come on, but the good thing os a sohc unit will work too

The VSS in in your gauge cluster. The VS sender is on the tranny, but it is not a grey plug. Where do you mean by on the top of the tranny? Intake or exhaust side of the engine?

well i just got a swap package and im thinking ahead of course. but its near the mounting bracket. what ever pugs into it might not be gray but the recepticle is gray. i heard it might be the reverse lights.

Ok i know its not the reverse lights for sure its a gray plug and its has 3 wires yellow, blue, and black? its not in my manual?

That is wierd. I have never seen this style plug on any of the trannys I have worked with (USDM or JDM). Are you sure the wires are coming from the tranny? Do you have pics?
