---------

You Know You're From Connecticut When...

You thought that the only highways were 91 and 84.

You thought everyone couldn't buy beer after 8 pm

You or someone you know has attended UCONN

You still think that the Whalers are cool.

You don't have an accent when you talk

You have known at least 2 preppy rich kids from Fairfield who listen to Phish.

UCONN basketball rules and no one can tell you different

You still don't understand why people say that Connecticut is the richest state

Your best friend went to Central, Western, Eastern and finally Manchester Community College.

Your Mom works at Travelers and your dad works at Pratt and Whitney.

You go to Riverside at least once a summer

Your parents actually care about the Governor, the Patriots coming to Hartford, the lights at Christmas in Hartford & Channel 3 news.

You think Old Lyme is a shore town

You think the Connecticut River is endless

The town diner is the only place open after midnight.

You root for all the New York or Boston sports teams, but NEVER both

If anybody asks, you're from just outside of New York.

You've never looked at a public bus schedule

You think New Haven is the worst ghetto you've ever seen

You can proudly tell an outsider about the Charter Oak.

You still can't find your way in Hartford (except for that bar area near Union Station)

You hold the door open for someone and they don't say "Thank You."

There is absolutely nothing to do in the winter

You live twenty minutes form either an Abercrombie & Fitch, J. Crew, or GAP.

Your family owns more cars than legal drive.

You carry your keys on a carabineer, but you don't know how to rock climb.

The State is so small you know where all the speed traps are

You can't understand why people don't understand what your talking about when you refer to a "package" store

You've never taken public transportation -- unless on a "field trip".

You have at least one friend whose house was built in the 1800s

You know at LEAST one person who has been pulled over and found to have weed in their car

Your house would cost half as much in any other state

You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends from Connecticut.

Old so very very old.

as
"You have known at least 2 preppy rich kids from Fairfield who listen to Phish"

it's not just preppy fairfield students

and
New Haven isn't really a ghetto these days.

You don't have an accent when you talk

word
You hold the door open for someone and they don't say "Thank You."

all the time
The town diner is the only place open after midnight.

basically
You live twenty minutes form either an Abercrombie & Fitch, J. Crew, or GAP.

try five minutes from all three
You can't understand why people don't understand what your talking about when you refer to a "package" store

what the fuck is a package store???
You know at LEAST one person who has been pulled over and found to have weed in their car

yeah, sure do

100% accurate.

And "The Whale" will never die.

True story...

When I moved to CT, i lived here for about 3 weeks... I was hangin out with some local car guys... Its about 7:45, and here's the conversation...

Them: oh shit, we gotta go to the package store
Me:  You gotta mail something at 8pm?
Them: uhhh... thats where you buy beer
Me: Why can't you just go to the gas station and get beer?
Them: They Dont sell beer at gas stations in CT..
Me:
*Pause*
Me: Well why do you have to go right now? Its not even 8:00
Them: Ummm... Packies close at 8
Me: <_< No Seriously, why?
Them: We are serious
Me:   In florida you can buy beer in gas stations until 3am!! You have time to get drunk, sober up, and go get drunk again!!

Everything else is very true as well.

:(

I want some beer right now.

Working sucks. lol

im tired as hell at work. I could get away with drinking or smoking, depending what i do that day, but not today, I'd end up passing out.

The Packy.... haha...

ATM Machines are another thing. We call it "hitting the ATM", most of the country calls them "Mac machines"

CT liquor law is fuckin horseshit. They extended the beer time to 9:00.. OOOOO

Also, he are missing so many restaurants. No Sonics, no White Castles, No fuddruckers, no Tim Hortons, No Carl's Jr, no steakhouses and like 4 IHOPs in the ENTIRE state. No waffle houses either.

CT also has quiet towns. Yeah, just like in Footloose. Shelton, a town that I grew up in, doesn't allow Rock and Roll. I'm serious. We (And Rhode Island) have Dry towns still, and we also have towns that aren't allowed to have laundromats or car washes.

Yup, living in CT is not like living in the other 49.

the whalers are comming back (someone bookmark this!!!!!)

Ditto to both of those... Tim Hortons locally here in Norwich... Used to be Bess Eaton...

We also don't have many Steak & Shakes, NO Village Inn's, no krystal burgers, no Checkers/Rallys, and the best thing of all that CT is missing.. DRIVE UP LIQUOR STORES!!!

But we have more Dunkin Donuts than one could EVER possibly need.

Steak and Shake ! That's the place. God I love those. Bess Eatons are a NE thing, but are going away.

And the Dunkin Donut thing is totally out of hand. Monroe has a population of 22,000 people and 12 dunkin donuts. There are 3 D&Ds within bicycling distance of my house, and that doesn't include the 3 in the nearby grocery stores.

I can go to, and order from, 6 dunkin donuts in 30 minutes here.
