Default 90 accord tranny problems

i have a 90 accord with F22 5-speed. the tranny is shot and was considering upgrade to a tranny from h23 or h22. i was wondering what would be best/easiest, and would it even be worth the trouble to go w/ tranny from prelude

IIRC there are H series trans' with LSD's in them. Try searching one of those out

Correct sir. Some of the JDM H22A transmissions had LSDs. You can get one through any of the engine importing sites...

Yes, the gearing is shorter. For the specs, just do some searching. I know somebody posted something about this not too long ago. Also, there may be an article in the reference section about gear ratios. Well, I know for a fact there is but I don't know if the F/H-series is covered.

Installation is exactly like stock. F and H-series engines and transmissions are completely interchangeable (aside from the S2000 drive-train). If you have a repair manual for your Accord then just follow the directions there.

I thought that you had to mod the h tranny to bolt in the cb chassis...

No, it's a bolt-on. How would you "mod" a tranny to fit a certain chassis anyway?

i think what he meant is are the mounts the same? my accord has 2 mounts from the chassis to the tranny. are these going to work the same on an h22 tranny? or will i have to rig something?

Unless you're swapping from auto-to-manual you shouldn't need to change anything...

Specializing in JDM-USDM Engines & Parts...hmotorsonline.com

That site has decent prices and probably the best customer service out of all the engine importing companies...

id like to elaborate on my situation a bit.... as said b4 i have a 90 accord, f22a1 5 speed. the tranny works fine under normal driving, just as good as new. yet when driving it hard it refuses to go into second until the rpms come down. speed shifting is out of the question.... third grinds when shifting hard at high rpms, and has done so for some time, but it will go in with some force. 4th is always fine, and 5th grinds on occasion. it also refuses to go into first sometimes, such as when stopped at a stop light. i don't know much about trannies..... is this a synchro problem? is there anyway it could be the linkages? i had some problems with them a while back when i rebuilt the motor... any input helps......
