Getcha Mind Right
Well i got that long block in trade and i picked up a hatch from "Celerity" i was going to keep the hatch all stock and just dd it..and resell for profit. But the engine blew in the hatch a few days after i bought it and i recently got the ls long block on trade.Tried to sell it but didnt sell fast enough for me *lol*..So i am deciding to go ls vtec/maybe all motor ls not sure but either way its going to be built but this is my first atempt at building/ doing a motor on my own.I have always bought someone else project and went from there. But i am a impulse kinda guy and said what the heck..So i started dissembling the engine and so on.But like i said before this is my first build and i dont know what the heck i am doing *l* I know the basics but i firmly believe in tryal and error..So took the head off the block and i am in the proccess of cleaning the block and prepping certain things...I have a good starter car with the civic its a 1991 dx almost mint :) some rust here and there but the interior is complete also and it hasnt been tamperd with so i can do "MY own build" and i figured i would post here and get some nay or yay from ya guys and i love seeing other peoples projects and i decided to start my own thread :) will post pics of the build tonight..

im in the process of cleaning it so excuse the dirt *l* im cleaning it now and breaking in between to check the comp :)...so i have everything i need i just wish i could bring the car in here too *l*

got some insperartion from ur build and decided to go with it..but i am an old school kinda guy and i like the clean "natural look" so dont expect wire tucks and random stuff over here just a basic build with whatever i need to buy and get done..

Here's a list of parts I suggest buying for your project.

--96+ B Series Oil Pump ($100), commonly referred to as a "ITR oil pump". They are in fact the same on all 96 newer blocks.
--Golden Eagle LSVTEC kit ($200), but substitute the GE headgasket with a cometic LSVTEC headgasket ($89). It'll save you a little trouble in the future...
--ARP/AEBS/Golden Eagle GSR Headstuds ($120)
--ARP rod bolts for the LS rods (8mm)

Are you converting to OBD1? I'd highly suggest that as well.

This would probably be the BEST source for LSVTEC information.

So what all should i have the machinest do because i have a GREAT connect with one of those..and all i am doing now is reasearching and taking step by step but i want to be hands on with the machine part of it so i am lucky to have someone who owns a shop

Are you going to be like, completely rebuilding the engine?

i plan to keep the car for awhile so i plan on ALL NEW whatever i need hoses, gaskets and so on..but i know it is gonna take me awhile to get it all done..

once you get everything taken apart, have the machinest hot tank everything, polish the crank and hone the block. Are you putting it together yourself? if so get rings, bearings, and seals from honda or whichever brand you prefer, read up and start builing.

well i plan on puting it together myself.. and i will attempt it..but im sure i can do it..if not i will have a ton of help on here and some peeps around me :)..but expect alot of pics because some people need to see things to get ideas/help and i am one of them

pics before leaving for machine shop sorry for the bad pics its not that bright in the room :)..so i think i am getting a good price on the short block. He is charging me 300 bucks to hot tank, polish crank, install new pistons, rings, connecting rods hone almost completing the entire short block i think it is a fare price to it leaves no error for me to do it even tho i want to.But i dont think it is worth the trouble. So i have decided to go ls vtec instead of all motor ls.i will keep updated with all new pics shortly when the block gets back to me
