What are the main differences and advantages and disadvantages of each?

Kaaz is a clutch pack style. They are great for road racing, however, they are not just an install and forget about it peice. With clutch pack styles, they need to be adjusted/rebuilt every so often. If you have the time and ablity, these are probally your best choice.

Gear types like the quaife are put in and practically forget about them, and the quaife comes with a life time warrente. however they are not as good as the kaaz LSD because when it sends power to the wheel that is not spining, sometimes it will go overboard and send too much power to that wheel causing that one to start to loose traction.

OEM units are a non adjustable clutch pack that are not as bullet proof as the quaife, however its cheaper.

I thought OEM were torsion type?

I love my ATS clutch type. But as asmallsol said they do need to be serviced often. Making U-turns in the car is not fun either.

so kaaz and oem are the same type? As far as adjusting the kaaz, approx how long before the rebuild?

I think the older cable clutch transmissions used clutch pack LSDs- I know that my ZC transmission had one. The hydraulic clutch transmissions used Torsen/helical LSDs like the Quaifes.
