Damn, twice?!? OUCH! Was it the same thing where the nut came off/perhaps rattle loose? I really feel your pain man. Thank God in your instances and mine we were going very slowly.

As soon as I can afford them I'm getting myself two. haha :D

Both times it was a falure of the ball joint. the ball just fell straight out of the boot covering it. protege on the drivers side, lude on the passenger side.

4" vise's work on ball joints... LOL

Dude ya that blows. Did it tear up the under carriage at all?

Wow that sucks man. And omg that's my car! Lol. I'm not a fan of the aftermarket headlights but otherwise it looks clean.

Doesn't look like BJ failure to me.
Looks like no cotter pin.

I had ball joint failure in my crx, stuck right in the middle of the road, sucked.
Glad you're alright.

Hey guys, thank you very much for your kind words and concern.

E, thank you as always for having one of the best sense of humors around and making me laugh at a time when I did not think it was possible to do so.

Unfortunately I just got off the phone with the insurance company. They said that they are going to total the car. Guys, I don't care if this sounds gay but I swear I want to cry right now. I have been through so MUCH with this car it's not even funny. I've had had it since '97 when I bought it. This car is the foundation, the reason why I got into Honda's. It is the reason why I had a dream over ten years ago that I am now beginning to realize. I feel like throwing up right now. They said that they would of course compensate me for it but I doubt it will be much at all. I believe the lady said I may get 1,700 out of it which to me, that car is priceless. I am sure most of you could agree that you can't put a price tag on your cars and something you love. Well, this is my something that I loved dearly. I thank God no one was hurt and at the same time can't believe I am losing it.

Yes it is only a material thing but it was my material thing. I don't own much and as far as money goes do not have much of that either, but my car really made me happy and now it is gone. I know that I will move on and overcome everything in time but the transition is going to be very hard for me. You guys have always been great and shown support and I hope that with that help as well I will be able to move on a lot easier. *sigh* I am so down right now. There have been so many things that I have gone through the past week, all of which were not good and the exclamation point came now with the end of my car. On that note, I am off to work.

One last thing, I pray that no one ever has to go through what I have gone through, be it over the past week, month or year. As far as my car goes, it was a tough car. It was stolen once, in two accidents and broken into three times. People always told me to get rid of it because I had so many problems with it.. That's like telling someone to get rid of their problem child. This was my problem child and I loved it very much. Yes it is once again a material thing, but it was mine after all. Take care all.

well take your car back here you can say yea take it crush it what ever you have to do or you can say hell no give me my car back i forgot who said it but ya it cant be that much to fix it
but dont get me wrong i completely understand not haveing much "cash wise" thats why mine isnt done yet haha dont let them take your car away man its yours
well what ever you do good luck man

yea.. whatever that babble says.. ^^

i'm guessing you'll get at least $2k and they'll only charge you $300-$400 to keep the car.. i got $19xx back for mine and they charged me $330 to keep it.. so i got like $16xx, got to keep the car for what it still had and sold it for $550 and sold some parts seperately.. so i can up another $500 totaling to $2475

fix it and have some cash left over

Oh hell no I won't let them just "crush" my car. haha Sorry if I made it seem like that, guys. I already called my mechanic and he and I are going up to the salvage yard to do what Puerto Ricans do best and strip the hell out of my poor child. :D There are a lot of things I am going to keep...i.e. ecu, engine, transmission, linkage, lights...etc. etc. My car WILL live on...just not in its original body. I just found another one, except for it's a '92, in perfect condition. They want $1,900 with clutch problems. I'll tell them that I'll give them $800 since it will cost "so much" to fix it...then take it back to my mechanics house, strip the fucker and have it running in a day. :D That is, if that is what I end up doing. Right now I want to make sure that I do the right thing with whatever monies they end up giving me for my car. Rest assured though, that car will not be junked in vain. I'll be getting quite a bit of parts off it before it is laid down to rest.

take what you want off it and sell the rest.. if you can sell the shell, recycle it and get some $$

That's what my mechanic suggested. He recycles metals and such and makes good money from it all. I wonder how much the salvage yard is going to charge me for it though? It's kind of sad that I would have to pay for what was once mine but still, one way or another I am going to get a hold of that car, strip it of what I need/could use for future builds and run with it from there.

i know you loved the car... but at the end of the day it is just a car and can be replaced
be glad you came away unharmed, it could have been worse
im glad i could make ya laugh a bit :)

and remember
Every day is a good day, kid. Just try missing one once.
;)

Indeed, E and thanks again. I am very grateful no one got hurt.

Here is an update:

I spoke with the insurance company and they once again reiterated that the car would not be safe to drive if fixed. It was then brought to my attention that they could give me the car back but would not insure it with collision or comprehensive insurance, be it that they do not deem the car safe. After talking with her for a while and not wanting to risk my life or anyone elses on the road by trying to get it fixed anyway, we finally came to the agreement that I would get the car back with a title of destruction or whatever it's called and I would also receive $1,200 as well. Can we say Booyah?

Since that is going to be the case and I am going to get the car back I am going to use it to rebuild my other EG which my dad gave me for my brother. Now I am contemplating what I should do. Should I get another EG, which I have found PLENTY for under $2,000 with minor to no problems or should I get a small truck such as a Mazda B2300, Ford Ranger, Isuzu Hombre...etc. etc. I am somewhat leaning to getting another EG since I do have a project to finish and I really do like four doors. As I thought to myself, rushing my decision is not a good idea, so I will take a few days to think it over. After looking at the pictures of my EG and having found one that matches it identically...except that this one's paint is pristine and it is actually street legal...haha...I am leaning towards another EG.

Anywho, I just wanted to update you guys on everything and will let you know what ends up happening. Thanks again for all of the advice and support, guys. I really appreciate it. :D
