my bro just bought a 96 honda civic ( not sure wat model, def aint SI) with a Ls vtec Engine. the guy he bought it from say its a 94 gsr head and i can see he have a b18a bottom end. wen we went for inspection the shop say the computer is not reading the obd plug thingy. after that we were all confuse, im not use to this, wat u guys think it might be, wires not connected or wat. if it is wires, can u guys give a good diagram of it so we can chekk if its all wired up or not..............thanks

Check what ecu is in the car. My guess is that the previous owner converted the car to run an obd1 ecu so that it could be tuned. My guess is that its a chipped p28. Look at the ecu under the passenger side kick panel and tell us what ecu is in there. If the car was converted to obd1 it won't communicate with the scan tools.

man, thanks for answering cuz im been waiting ....lol... yea it's been converted to obd1 and it has the old gsr obd1 ecu, the p72 not chipped or tuned, the guy my bro bought it from say it needs a tune and wen i chekked it at home i see theres a obd2 to obd1 conversion adaptor thingy on the ecu and the ecu is p72.

so as this being said wat can we do to get the car to pass inspection? Also the obd reader didnt read AT ALL, its not like it read anything, the garage people was having problem wit it, they told us that the reader is not reading at all like theres no connection. So wat u think we should do, we need the inspection done soon plus my bro now riding around wit that big ass red R on his windshield, lukky me i got a eg6 obd1......paid for mines...hehehe...... anyways let me kno wat i can do or theres no hope at all.

There should be a jumper harness that links the car's wire harness to your obd1 ecu. If you remove the ecu and the jumper harness, a stock obd2 integra ecu should hook right up and communicate with the scanner. What intake manifold are you running? If you have a gsr manifold you need a obd2 p72 ecu so you don't get any CEL's. If you have something else, a 99-00 civic si ecu will work. (p2p I think)

yo thanks bro, i'll let him kno but he just told me he's putting his car away for the winter so i'll keep this in mind......not sure which I.M he have but its the one dat curves over from the top not the bottom like those Skunk2 1s.....so which 1 is dat?

eh not helping. Look at this gif. Which one does it look like?

manifolds.gif

so its def a gsr but why does all the b series I.M looks da same except the gsr??/weird looking....i got a nice Skunk2 I.M and it looks like the rest of the b series 1s but it have that plaque thing on it) which looks nice). so from wat i said earlier curve from the top, looks at the gsr and the rest curves from under to up if that make any sence.....lol.

the gsr manifold is a dual runner design with butterfly valves.

so which ecu my bro should get cuz we aint tryin to buy like ten different 1s to get the right 1 but if we hsve to den we'll do it
