Hey ya'll im new to this forum,i just got a 87 Crx(d161A) for free last nite.
Its was a friends of mines who would rev it to high and of course messed up the crank.

I got this crx to make it into a performer yet still driveable on the street and i also don't want to take apart my bmw, Anywho i have no ideas on setups or mods that can be done to hondas as i mostly know only about mustangs and bmw"s.

It would be nice to get some input on what can be done performance wise for now, i pulled out the engine and its torn apart rite now and don't know were to go from now for parts.

Here are some pictures of it, it looks ok as there is no damage to the body.

My friend in there hates hondas and is all mustang only
so im determined to show him honda don't suck.

what kinda power and how much cahs do you have? thats gonna be the deal breaker. you can go 4 ways with this, b series or dseries wich isnt gonna be all that cheap or you can build a d15a (dont expect more that 160whp) or a d16a1 and that would work great for a cheap build on a dd

EW stryder has hit it right on the head. HASport now has available D series mounts in addition to B Series mounts which open up your options on swaps. I assume your car was originally an Si but was the engine pulled a D15a3?

The original EW3/EW4 is a nice engine and I've seen one example of that engine putting out 230hp boosted. Of course the owner has spent quite a bit of $$ to achieve such numbers. Typical upgrades for the original Si motor would be I/H, upgraded cam and some port/polish work. This may get you up to 100-105hp at the wheels.

I would think a swap would run you at least $2,500 plus as well as a bit of time. Then there's suspension.....

I have two 1st Gens in the household, one is a mildly built EW3 the other a boosted B16. Totally different but nonetheless both are fun to drive.

Id personally go back with the d16a1, or the dohc zc, love the first gen crx's btw, you can pick up your A1's and the DOHC zc's for 500-650 at most jdm engine shops, and its a direct bolt in of your existing mounts, and with minor bolt-ons it should be a fairly sporty, quick little ride, throw a set or coil-overs and some fatter meat on the ground and it will be fun as hell

The Browntop ZC is basically plug and play and a detuned equivalent can be found in the '86-87 USDM Integra. You will need additional parts in addition to the engine/tranny-here's a link to an article

hey im new here and i also have a question about a crx swap. i picked up a 1990 crx dx in decent shape for $500. should i swap my 1997 integra gsr b18c1 motor and tranny and axles and wiring and all that good stuff into the the crx? or would i be better off to leave it in the acura?
