b16 j1 trans rebuild?'s

ok i have a j1 trans in my hatch where can i buy parts to rebuild it? i am NOT paying 750 for a used transmission thats retarded.. i am assuming i can get the parts to make it fresh for cheaper just dont know where to go.

depending on what needs replaced parts from the dealer will cost you way over 750 and thats just parts alone.. You can check out ebay i've seen kits on there pretty cheap. but they might be cheap parts too.. There are a few other sites that have rebuilds for them, let me check with my brother since he has been through it..

the issue my trans is having is it will not downshift into second from third or any higher gear in that matter but goes into second from first just fine

Do you know if it's RPM/speed dependent?

I suggest Synchrotech because they're very well regarded in the racing scene. I actually used their kit on my DOHC ZC transmission; full carbon-lined synchros and also included new bearings, seals, and synchro springs.

ok i know this is going to sound weird but it will downshift to second only if i just touch the first gear synchro i know its weird but everyone keeps telling me to put an ls trans in it and i dont wanna cause all that gonna do to my b16 is dog it... the only way i will run ls trans is if im boosted.
