Any recommendations on aftermarket air intake filters?? I'm looking to replace my cheap cold air intake filter for my 2000 civic with one that keeps dirt from entering my engine.

For a daily try t stay away from a cold air intake. Hydrolocking an engine sucks.

I had no problems with my CAI. I just never drove it through large puddles.

ive always liked K&N filters

i would imagine any name brand filter would work just fine. the cotton gauze type ones (like K&N) are nice because you can clean and re use.

in all honesty i have used cheap ebay cone filters before for a good year before, and when it gets dirty just toss it out.

Try looking into Amsoil EAAU universal air filters and the EAPF mesh pre-filters. They work great, filter better than any other filter on the market, and they are cleanable with a shop vac. I am running one on my truck, my brother has one on his 91 si, and when I get my wagon running again you bet that it will get one as well.

the ebay and autozone filters cone filters will do just that... filter out particles... but 2 bad experiences i had using them where that the top cover of the cone where the metal or plastic cover is glued to the filter element simply came off... im not sure just how long i drove with my cai open to the elements, but i noticed it one day doing my oil change.... about 6 months after installing it... and the next one came from ebay.... the whole thing came off of the plastic tube where it attatches to the filter element.. this time i caught it early because i heard rattling around under the hood... just like with anything you buy automotive... you get what you pay for...

My ebay CIA filter did the same thing years ago, I forgot about it until I read your post.
