lowering and extending a bike. i was thinking about doing this now with just the swingarm extensions and the lowering links. i know it wont turn as good being so long but what do you guy think about it?

nope. don't do it. the purpose of having a bike is for performance. i wouldn't lower mine. most people can't tell it's lowered when you are riding anyways. i don't think it improves it that much.

make it faster or get your wheels powdercoated. maybe paint it if you want it to look better. but manufacturers spend a lot of money on R&D for performance. don't mess with it too much.

looks ugly in my opinion unless it's a cruiser. extended swingarms are just gay unless you are drag racing the bike. I wouldn't do it. Throw some marchesni's on there and an ohlins rear shock and call it a day.

i was honestly thinking about doing it wheni was gonna buy a cbr. i think it looks cool, a buddy of mine has a slight extension like 6" and lowered a bit and his bike looks badass.

i think it prolly depends on what you buy your bike for. if both ends are lowered the exact same then it wont adversly affect your handling characteristics, you just might not be able to knee drag (like most riders do that anyway)
an extended swingarm can through off your handling and it will be like learning to ride a new bike, but honestly if all you do is ride the bike around town then what does it matter.
like me, id ride to work and back and thats about it, 20 maybe 30 miles a week. im not trying to be a gp racer in town, i dont give a shit about stunting, im not gonna be hitting twisties on the weekends, any of that bullshit.so honestly it wouldnt bother me at all.
hell if anything an extended swingarm will keep your front tire on the ground, which is a good thing :p

it seems like the squids like this sort of stuff and the "real riders" dont, but to me honestly it just depends on the person and how they ride.

Meh. I think the majority of people I have seen with extended swingarms were either drag racing their bike or showing it, and apparently an extended swingarm scores points at the shows??? Squids just like being dumb. What's a 'real rider'? I used my r6 to commute over 15000 miles in about 6 months. Sure I rode the twisties, and had lots of fun, and I can't say I ever had a thought to put an extended swingarm on it. Personally I think unless you are drag racing, it's totally a looks thing, not really anything else. I've seen some tastefully lowered bikes, but then again, I'm just not into that look. Plus, all the guys I rode with chose to raise their rear end with an ohlins/fox rear shock; it apparently makes it easier to flick. I dunno, mine was stock.

im not a fan of it in the looks dept, but if its a drag bike then it makes perfect sense....

however its your bike do what you want, if you like it who cares if anyone else does.

My brother put an extended arm on his rediculously modified GSXR.. That thing's front tire wouldn't stay on the ground so he put the arm on it, and it helped a little bit.. But I dont think it was 6".. A pro bike racer got on it, gassed it being a bad ass, and it popped up and the handle bars gashed his head, he put the bike down, got off, and walked it back to my brother and told him that it was stupid. lol.

He likes straight line exceleration and cruising at high speed though, not much into twisties. That bike was hella fun though, when you touched the throttle it would jump to 10k so fast it would scare you.. I never did open it all the way up.

having an extended bike to me helps..my first bike is a gsxr600..not that fast but fast enought..it had a 6" stretch when i bought it..i learned how to ride on it..it forces me to slow down for curves and keeps the front tire on the ground..IMO great to start out with..
