I am new to hondaswap and have a question about my 2001 LS integra. I am on a 2,000 budget and I want what everyone wants, more power. I have looked into a LS/Vtec or B20/Vtec swap, and also I read the post here about just leaveing in my B18 and building a LS monster. I know by leav ing in my motor and going the LS monster route i will sacrifice mpg. I was wondering what the mpg is on a LS/vtec. And if I were to go the LS monster way, could I later put in a junkyard turbo or would that blow the motor? and what hp would i be looking at? I asked a local tuner shop about LS/Vtec vs a B16 and I was told the B16 is too weak for the weight of my integra? Thanks in advice for anyones opinions. Basically I just would like to know what is the best way to make my 01 integra a daily driving 5.0 killer.

If I went the turbo route, I read a little about getting a junkyard turbo. Are these worth it or should i spring for a new one. Also what else would i need for the setup to work on a stock LS. Fuel management? Cams? ECU? and my motor has 70k on it, should i balance or rebuild anything on it before going turbo or is 70k fine?

Id go for a new turbo if possible. Youll need fuel management. Cams should be fine. You may want to convert to obd1 and run hondata or some standalone management. Id do a compression and leakdown test on the motor to see if its healthy.

As I Posted In Another Thread. I Bought A Complete Gude Performance Head Package And Turned A 13.46@97mph On Street Tires. The Two Best Parts Of That Story Is That My Motor Is The Original B18a1 Non Vtec And The Head Package Cost Me Around $1500.00 Its Good Stuff. If You Plan On Going This Route, Ask Mr. Bill Gude For The Gorilla Cams And Vavle Spring Kit To Match. You Wont Regret It. By The Way, Its Easy To Tune, The Cams Were Ground To Run At 0 Degrees. With Arp Rod And Head Bolts You Can Wind It Up To Around 9,000rpm No Problem. 55hp at the wheels........one more thing, he can build you a turbo kit to go on top of the head package or you can just buy the turbo system alone. best of both worlds. but for 2,000.00 i'd get the head package.

I hear ppl make home made turbo kits for under 1k and LS motors r good to turbo. but I think its better to hear an all motor engine than a turbo so I'd getta head package and later i\h\e :)

jackson racing supercharger, JacksonRacing High Performance Parts & Accessories I think that they are down to about 1700 for your engine, and you won;t ruin it with a turbo kit that might not be properly tuned, or go with the gude head package as described above. I have a jrsc on my gsr and I love it, made about 100+ HP on my basically stock engine, and it still keeps good mpg if you keep your foot out of it. My previous all motor ls monster (which prompted the original thread 2 years ago) got almost 30 MPG, and then when I went to ls/vtec with the same block I still got almost 28 mpg.

I looked into the JR blower for my 97 LS a while back, the numbers on it didn't really impress me much. They claim like 160 whp and 140 something torque. Definately not the 100+ you gained on your GSR. For $1700 he'd probably be better off with a turbo setup.
