ls block question

im putting a LS vtec motor in my 91 civic hatch and i have a bare LS block no internals at all is it possible to put gsr internals in there and do a vtec conversion ?? or should i just get a GSR or SI head?? help
 
I would use a gsr or si head on it. But I would definetly get a ls crank. Dont use gsr internals you wont get the advantage of the ls stroke. I would use a ls crank and invest in some decent pistons and rods. Make sure you order the rods for the ls also.

use the LS crank w/ after market rods and pistons

Maybe 11:1, 12:1 for even more torque and HP:driver: "D"
 
aight thanks, i made a mistake in what i wrote, i meant that i have a LS head with no internals i got tha bottom end already together i just have to decide wat im gonna do about the head, and i wanted to kno if there was any difference in the gsr head and the LS head besides the vtec solinoid, and if there isnt can i put gsr cams and stuff in there ??
 
gsr heads and ls heads are as different as night and day. the only things that will swap from them is the springs and retainers. the cams are reaaaally different. I actually had more fun with my complete ls motor than my gsr motor now. I would say get some good aftermarket cams for your ls head and run that. it would be a fun car.
 
I guess it kind of depends on what you are going to do with the car. If its going to be all motor then the vtec head would definetly help you pick up more horsepower. But if you are planning to add boost pretty soon, just save your money for your turbo setup and keep the ls head. Vtec cams will not work in a ls head they are very different!!
 
aight thanks alot but i heard that u dont get alot of power if u go with ls and u git alot more power with a vtec head, im looking to go all motor for now until i can git the money and the time to boost

then go with the gsr or b16 head. OR....b16 head and swap in some gsr cams. either way,any stock vtec head is better than a stock ls head if your talking hp.
 
Hate to bring it up, but has anyone noticed this is in the F/S/T forums?
